It seems like sometimes with recent horror movies that they start off with a wicked good idea, then the studio people start taming it down, cutting out anything they think will offend (sex, gore, whatever) so they can make the movie appeal to the most people possible - and make the most money possible.
I'm all for movies making money - especially horror movies - but I can't help but feel like something important gets lost when studios try to make horror movies appeal to the same people as "Finding Nemo". Horror's supposed to be scary and edgy and shocking. Sucks when they turn it all bland.
