H.P. Lovecraft

Alright~ this is probably my favorite author of all time. The Necronomicon, the Cthulhu Mythos, all of his very original 'weird' fiction- simply amazing author who had an amazing imagination and mastery of descriptive horror.

Who else reads Lovecraft, or at the least has a knowledge and appreciation for his work?

I'm a huge fan of Lovecraft's work too, he is definitely my favourite author. In my opinion, no other author can do what he did. Well, not to me, anyway.

I'm not much of a fiction reader. I have concentration issues, and this makes it kind of hard to enjoy the reading experience as entertainment. But Lovecraft's work is like the gate to a magic world for me.

Only fiction I read these days is Lovecraft, Poe and more recently Blackwood.... Pretty much in awe of these guys. It's hard to be a fan of horror/ fantasy without an appreciation of Lovecraft and the impact he had on the genre.

Straker- glad to see you getting into Algernon Blackwood. He's really one of the old masters along with Lovecraft and Poe.

To be honest, he was someone that I was content to be aware of without actually setting the time aside to appreciate his work..... Really glad I made more of an effort, loving his work. All these guys had such amazing imaginations.

Plus, they knew it wasn't blood and guts that created terror and horror- it was atmosphere.

Lovecraft is great. Getting really tired of his critics, though.

You must be hanging around with the wrong crowd. Lovecraft is more popular today than he ever was before.

No quarrel there, but as Frederick Pohl said, "Nothing is so good that somebody somewhere won't hate it." The good news is that Lovecraft will be remembered a lot longer than his detractors.
