My own script

This is my own script, and I want this to become a movie in the future when I will be a filmmaker/scriptwriter of horror movies and other genres.
It will be a slasher movie about a girl who's name is Mary and makes a party, but a killer escapes from an aslyum, enters the house and starts killing all the guests.
This is a fragment from the future script
BLOODY PARTY
(Mary's house,7:04 p.m.)
Mary:Hi?(Holding the phone) Man:Hi.
Mary:Hi,I'll be making a party, if you wanna come.At 6:30 p.m.
Man:Okay.Thanks.I'll be right there.
Mary:Bye.
Man:Bye.
Mary:This was the seventh call I had made.I have to make 9 calls more(breathing exhausted).
(Beginning Sequence)
(Pittsburgh High School,lockers,2:59)
Mary:...And remember my party is on Friday at 6...
James:Yes,6:30 p.m;I know.
(Bell sounds)
Mark:See you.
(All get out)

The plot sounds a little generic but hey nothings really original anymore. It's all about how you do it. Not quite sure about your dialogue there. Id probably need to see more to judge accurately.

Doc Faustus 05-24-2011 03:44 PM

First of all, the concept strikes me as similar to Happy Birthday to Me. Second of all, your dialogue is uninformative. Tells us nothing about the tone of the movie and says nothing about the character. So, there's no reason for a person to want to make this script or to watch the film if it's made. The key is to try an angle that has not been tried before, to give it interesting characters and provide a worthwhile mystery. "Who is the killer?" is something you find out in virtually every film, why did they do it, what secrets do they harbor, what secrets do the people who aren't the killer harbor, that's what would make the film unique. "Who" is the least interesting question in any mystery. And Bloody Party sounds like an English Dark Wave band from 1984. Watch more movies. Read more and get a better grasp on the English language. Listen to people talk. Who the hell says to someone "Hello, you are invited to my costume party this Friday at 6:30 PM. " If somebody called you up and said that, what would you think of them? If you get party invites like that, your friends are robots. And thirty guests seems like a ton of people. How invested can you get in thirty characters? Also, a mystery does not become a better mystery because there are a ton of suspects. It becomes a better mystery if there are interesting suspects or unlikely suspects. And lastly, saying that the girl's name is Sandra is not enough to make her a character people want to invest attention in. Think about the movies you enjoy. Do you remember any movie and think "I liked that movie because that guy's name was Greg"? Change how you see movies, or else your writing won't improve and you won't be able to come up with a good concept or a character worth liking.

Suggesstions

And what name do you suggest for the movie?

Doc Faustus 05-25-2011 09:55 PM

I suggest you spend some time before your next script idea. This one is cliche and stale. Watch a lot more movies and read a lot more fiction. You need a more unique concept. So, I couldn't really come up with a title.

If you have an idea and want to show a fragment of a script by yourself, you can put it in here.
