Kickass games for the PC in 2011

Let's admit it, 2010 was a fantastic year for console gamers but had little for PC fans. Between the Kinect and Go and an assortment of titles which rocked the 360 and PS3 alike, die-hard PC gamers had little to celebrate last year.

But this year looks very promising for PC games. Just check out the games due to be released/ already released in 2011 -

Crysis 2

Dead Space 2

Mass Effect 3

Batman: Arkham City

BulletStorm

RAGE

I Am Alive

Portal 2

F.3.A.R.

Dragon Age 2

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Postal III

If you have other good recs, post em here.

I'm dying to play The Elder Scrolls 5! Nice thread V!

Out of what's been mentioned, aside from a few already with/on their way to me, I'm mainly hanging out for RAGE and "I am Alive", they really strike me as the kind of games I'd dig.

Aside from, there's one called "Brink" I wouldn't mind giving a go.

Could be a bit of fun.

Of course the new Duke Nukem will be one that despite apprehension almost every shooter fan will have to at least play, myself among them.
...I suppose Bioshock Infinite isn't 'til next year, ah well...actually looks worth playing unlike the sequel.

For sure.

Just on PS3 instead of PC.

Bulletstorm sounds smashing too. Check this out...

Quote:

Bulletstorm gets another update in the form of a video that showcases three of its much touted Skill Shots. The video released on IGN shows Grayson Hunt, the games drunken space pirate protagonist, unleash the Gag Reflex, Mercy and Acid Rain skill shots. These skill shots are the FPS equivalent of Mortal Kombat's fatalities.

Gag Reflex Skill Shot is activated by shooting the enemies in the throat, which is then followed by a deviously satisfying death animation with your victim's severed jugular hosting its own bloody fountain.
Mercy is a rather comical Skill Shot initiated with a bullet to the family jewels and topped off with a melon crushing power kick to the crawling enemy.
Acid Rain involves launching enemies in the air with your energy leash and then using the shotgun for a meat mince shower.

The completed game will include 135 of these Skill Shots, which includes a drunken focus mode, which harks back to the Moonshine Mode of the Build engine classic Redneck Rampage. It's great to see the game shaping up as a no-nonsense, unapologetic shooter that focuses more on frenetic gameplay than the trifles of cinematics and debilitating aiming and movement penalties that are the hallmarks of the current breed of war games. Bulletstorm is looking true to the Painkiller legacy of the developer, which is indeed a good thing in our books.

Looks badass!

I just got it and I can confirm, BulletStorm is a lot of fun...quite different to a lot of shooters on offer, it's funny without coming across as something "Serious Sam-like", it's atmospheric, and yeah...cool storyline and reality are introduced here. I haven't really got into it as yet but yep, liking what I'm seeing.

Thanks for the heads up, Cheebs. :)

Does it need a heavy machine? I have a Core i3 2.93 GHz machine with 9500GT (1 GB) card and 8 GB RAM. Hopefully it will be able to play the game.

Ah, that's the thing I have it on the 360.
Though, your system seems like it could manage it?

Ahh...I thought you got the PC version.

I think it might, although I have a nagging doubt about the 9500 GT. We will see as soon as it hits the stores.

Bulletstorm is already available on Steam, and there is a demo as well. So why not try downloading the demo and see how well it works?

According to the system specs, it will work with your graphics card, but I doubt it will run well with all the graphics options set to high. Also, depends on what resolution you plan to run it at.
