Mafia II
Is anyone else excited about this game?
It is a sandbox game (think of GTA IV) with, obviously, a gangster theme and set in the 40's and 50's. Music is from the era, and the cars and fashion are also based on styles of the era. The first Mafia was a great game, and the demo and trailers for this one look amazing. It is being released on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. From what I have seen on the web, the PC version is the one to get if you have a high-end gaming PC. The graphics look a lot better. Xbox 360 seems next best, and the PS3 version looks like it is at the bottom of the heap, at least for graphics presentation. There are several youtube videos that show the differences, and they are quite noticeable. |
Got the Collector's Edition for PC today.
I have only played through chapter 1 and part of chapter 2 so far, but it looks incredible. The game creates an amazing 40's and 50's atmosphere. I have heard that it is quite a linear game, and not very long at about 11 hours or so to complete. Likely DLC will extend that... To play at highest quality settings, it takes a beefy system, but it is possible to play with everything maxed out (unlike some releases that are unplayable at absolute max settings on current hardware at time of release). |
played the demo on the xbox......top notch, though reviews say it's a bit lacking in overall content. Not a lot going on in the world other than your main objectives.

Yeah I have finished about half of the game. It is a great game with an engaging story. However it is a bit short. Also, there isn't much to do except the main story, which isn't what you expect with a sandbox style game.
You can do things like rob shops etc. But there isn't much to do with that money except get your cars fixed. You can do things like turn on/off water/showers etc. But you can't do anything with them. Sort of pointless. I have enjoyed the game for the story. I guess they will add extra with downloadable content.. and charge more money for it. |
