Lovecraftian horror

Which is the best Lovecraftian film you've seen?

Doc Faustus 04-04-2010 10:52 AM

The Wicker Man. The original of course. Also, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, The Blob and Monolith Monsters.

Good choice for the Wicker man but I haven't seen the original version of The Blob so I can't comment on that one. Pity Edward Woodwood died and they didn't put The Equaliser on again as a tribute.

The Blob is one of the most Lovecraftian of all monsters. It's amorphous, apparently unstoppable and hails from parts unknown. The combination of Lovecraft with hot rodding teens is a real must see.

Without doubt:

Ever seen Dagon?
It's more like The Shadow Over Innsmouth (Reminds me of the time I had to cut a fish's head off with a knife but couldn't cut through the bone so I had to use a pair of scissors to finish the job). The head falls on the floor and my mother ran out of the room when the fish's brain spilt out.
BTW I actually found a dead rat in one of my shoes once.
Anyway, thanks for the responce (Where you from anyway/)

Yeah Dagon is based on Shadow and not on the story of the same name. There is also another film called Call of Cthulhu which again bizarrely is another version of Shadow..

I kinda like the 70's version of DUNWICH HORROR (though its cheesey and strays far from the story). The Resurrected and the Haunted Palace are both really good..

I've heard of the CoC film but it isn't in HMV AND I wasn't bullshitting about cutting the fish's head off and the rat in the shoe either. Apart from Lovecraftian horror I like a bit of demon possesion/visceral horror myself. Cheers for the feedback. BTW have you ever [layed NECRONOMICON DAWN OF MADNESS (Playstation)/Sherlock Holmes: The Awakening(PC)/CoC-Dark Corners OF THE EARTH (BASED ON THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH)PC/XBOX? But if you want REAL horror, I strongly reccomend books like:-
A HISTORY OF TORTURE
RACK, ROPE AND RED HOT PINCERS
THE BOOK OF EXECUTION
PRISONERS OF THE JAPANESE
SURVIVING THE SWORD
SCOURGE OF THE SS
KNIGHTS OF THE BUSHIDO
As for books about video nasties (Childs Play 3 had nothing to do with the murder of James Bulger and it's been proven) I STRONGLY RECOMMEND:-
Seduction Of The Gullible
See No Evil
Good luck in the search for the above if you're interested.

I really liked Dagon. Just saw it for the first time last week, and I was pleasantly surprised given the amount of crappy Lovecraft movies out there.

Also I want this http://www.cthulhulives.org/store/st...roduct&2=32834
and http://www.zazzle.ca/visit_beautiful...69487877246265 will probably be purchased for my bf because it's Lovecraft but also retro. There are a few Miskatonic Uni. shirts too but I can't find girls versions that aren't white and I don't like white tshirts.
