Ever wake up choking?

Maybe once a fortnight, I have this occur.
It's some kind of acid reflux type problem when I lay on my back - though I have to try and keep sleeping that way, attempting to somewhat straighten my spine.

So, I wake up and the first thing I realise is that I'm not breathing, it's like my throat has filled with liquid, thing is, if it's the problem I've read about, it IS filling with liquid. Acidic.
It burns...similar to that you expect when you've hurled only much much worse.
Every time, hurts like crazy and for the first 10-20 seconds of waking I think it's not going to go away and I'm going to die...then takes about 20 minutes to fuck off again.

Kind of fucks up the rest of the nights sleep, and it's scary, really fucking burns too.
Anyone else get this?

I think now if there's been anything acidic in my diet prior sleeping, I might just do a shot of milk before laying down...

i had this twice - spread over a period of several months.

scared the living shit out of me. (one time was more severe than the other)

i was told by someone that if this happens often - see a doctor... you could end up burning away the flap that keeps things from coming back up your throat.

i dont think milk will fix the problem .. it just curdles and adds to the problem .. you need malox or something like that - a proper anti-acid.

i just avoid acidic foods all together .. and i never eat anything after 7:00.

Shit, I hope it doesn't come down to cutting down on acidic foods, love my chilli's (peppers)...
I think it might be mainly bought on by acidic foodstuffs though, like, had pizza and coke the night before, last time.
I should probably see the doc about it, I don't think it's a thing yet, as it's not like "all the time" just as often as it's ever been is once a fortnight, it can go for months without showing up, but yeah, probably an idea to act on it sooner than later, seems it might lessen the chances of an imposed limit.

i only wake up choking when the woman i've seduced wakes up (sobers up) and shrieks at the sight of me drooling on her nice pillows . . . sheesh - being single sucks

I had this problem for a short while. It was remedied by simply sleeping with my head and shoulders elevated a little higher than my stomach...gravity does the work and no medicine is needed.

On very rare occasions I wake up and desperately need to take a breath but for a few seconds cant remember how. Its extremely unpleasant.

Cant sleep on my back, have to on my side cos I cant get comfortable otherwise.
