Headless body found in lagoon

A headless body lies completely wrapped in sacking and bound with tape at a popular nature spot. The grisly discovery, near an abandoned wheelbarrow, was made by two walkers yesterday at the edge of a lagoon.

One, who tried to drag the body from the water with two anglers, said: "The bundle was very heavy and the smell from it was terrible. At first we thought there might have been a dumped animal inside.

"But as the sacking was pulled away we realised it was a body. We could clearly see the chest which appeared hairy. There was a gaping hole on the top of the torso and it looked like the head had been hacked off. I couldn't see the whole body but I think part of the legs may have been cut off too."

It didn't seem like it was long enough to be a whole man's body." Yesterday forensic experts were combing the area known as the Blue Lagoon - a former quarry in Arlesey, Beds. Police said: "We have recovered the body and are treating the death as suspicious."

The same police unit probed the killing and dismembering of kitchen salesman Jeffrey Howe, 49, whose body parts were scattered across two counties. Two people have been charged with his murder but officers say there is nothing to link the two killings

I like this! A bit of understatement from the police

jeeze, I'd say.
Who cuts off their own head ?
Or ends up in a plastic bag after cutting it off ?

I read it in a daily newspaper and pulled it off the website, so the story was over 24 hours old

Well, seeing as only part of a body was found, then Id say yes it was part of something bigger.

There is no conspiracy here, just some murderous fucks who need to be caught.

Police investigating the murder of a man whose body was pulled from a Bedfordshire lake said they believe the victim was decapitated after he died.

Police are trying to piece together how and where the man died and urged anyone with information to come forward. Det Ch Insp Jon Humphries said: "The person who died was the son or brother to someone, who does not yet know how they met their fate."

The body of the white man was found wrapped in layers of packaging, which is being dried out in sterile conditions before it can be examined for evidence, police said. A wheelbarrow found with the body in the lake has also been recovered and is being forensically examined. A post-mortem examination carried out on Monday has been unable to confirm the exact cause of death, although it is believed he was decapitated after he died, police said.

Work to view CCTV is also taking place and house to house inquiries are under way in the area close to the Blue Lagoon. Det Ch Insp Humphries said: "We are still trying to establish how long this man was lying in the water before he was discovered."
