"Jason vs. Freddy" Slew 'Em

The horror icons face-off Freddy vs. Jason slew the competition this weekend, scaring up an estimated $36.4 million nationwide.

That haul was more than the combined total theatrical gross of both of the franchises' last flicks - Wes Craven's New Nightmare, which has racked up $18.1 million since opening in 1994 as the seventh in the series, and Jason X (the 10th Friday the 13th outing), which has snagged $12.6 million since opening last year.

The estimates were that the movie was going to do $20 million this weekend and it did over $35 million instead. Nice!

I thought it was pretty good. the story line wasn't what they wanted but it worked out ok anyway. Freddie was hysterical as usual. Go Freddie.

I think why it was so successful was because it was original. Originality always wins at the theaters.

Still waiting for it to come out here. 23rd of October it should be released... that's on the same day as Alien directors cut being released here.

The movie was great. They told the history of them both very well. And they really showed how much ass Freddy'll kick if he was real. Great graphics, great scenes, good realisc blood. A real blood bath. It also brought the greatest two slashers in history together in a fight to the death. Freddy kicked ass. Jason... well... lets just say the bad doggy got put to sleep. Of corse, Freddy would've lived and been declared the victor of this battle, but Lori killed him by cutting off his head. Sad. Guess no one wins. But I expect to see the great Freddy Krueger as the victor in the next Freddy VS. Jason. And Horror, don't ever put Jason Voorhees before Freddy Krueger. THe movie is called "FREDDY VS. JASON" not "JASON VS. FREDDY".
