Man arrested after alleged sword attack By SAM WALKER A BUDDINA man is to face court today charged with attempted murder and unlawful wounding after allegedly stabbing his flatmate with a samurai sword yesterday morning. Police arrested the 32-year-old man after being called to a Tumala Street home just after 7.45am. Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Schmidt from Maroochydore CIB said another 32-year-old man had been stabbed three times in the neck and back. He said the man, who underwent surgery at Nambour General Hospital yesterday afternoon, was lucky to have escaped serious injury. Det Snr Sgt Schmidt said the wounded man, who had shared the house with two other males, ran from his home to neighbours across the road seeking help. He said the alleged attacker was overpowered by residents who held him until police arrived and arrested him. Det Snr Sgt Schmidt said the man was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of unlawful wounding and is set to appear in Maroochydore Magistrate's Court today |
