Holiday Dishes?
With all the threads about people's feelings about the upcoming holidays, are there any special dishes you make for Thanksgiving, Christmas or any of the other holidays (Hannakah, Kwanzaa, etc) And if you're a vegetarian, I encourage you to post your specialities. You're also welcome to post recipes in case our fellow hdc family is curious or wants to try something new in their stomach this year.
Ahem: Let the grub fest begin !!!! :D |
For Thanksgiving I like to make scalloped corn. My family has the best recipe for it.
Every year for Christmas we have peanut butter kiss cookies and we also have pineapple cheese bread, which sounds weird and gross but it's actually really good. |

That scalloped corn sounds really good! For Thanksgiving I usually make sweet potato casserole, and my sister makes mashed turnips. For Christmas, I make pineapple stuffing to go with the ham. |
i thought this thread was gonna be about washing the dishes during the holidays....which i hate
during the festivities, i like having fruit salad. |

as much as i am not a meat and potatos guy (i think north american food is crap) i do find nostalgic comfort in our traditional xmas/thanksgiving meals .. which were always the same thing in our house :
turkey with dressing potatoes (usually mashed) sweet potatoes broccoli (or green beens) sometimes a turnup/carrot mix and strawberry-rhubarb pie |
