Since when?

Can magneto fly? I say X Men again today and magneto flies up to the torch of the statue of liberty.

Could he always fly? I don't remember him ever doing it at any other point in the films or the comics.

I know this is a bit of a pointless thread but still, I MUST KNOW!!!

He's got magnetic powers, dude. What do you think the Statue of Liberty is made from?

Think about his powers for a sec....he's pretty much limitless.

He manipulates magnetic fields, can utilise the electromagnetic energy in the atmosphere to create solid fields, or sustain flight.
I don't think in the very eraly uncanny xmen issues he was seen doing much more than walking, perhaps floated here'n there early on, but was gradually "developed".

Ok, but think of this, in one of the movies, which I'm too drunk and high to think of, but I think it was 2, when he is locked up in the glass prison, he got out by pulling the iron out of somebodies blood. Think about it, all he has to do is eat an iron rich diet and he could easily fly that way. Also did you notice how he sensed that the person had the iron in him? Think about it, if he can sense metal, in blood, where its not really enough so that they guy isn't getting any serious damage from it, then his control and perseption of metals that react to magnetic fields is pretty serious, I don't think there are very many things that he can't do.

Now on that note... if I were Magneto and I wanted to kill somebody, I'd probably form a magnetic field inside there head, that was strong enough to pull all the iron, in the blood, that passes through it, into that spot. Like the brain. And think about it, if he can control the shape of the magnetic field he could do all sorts of things, like make a spike appear in the middle of your beating heart, or even in your brain. Hell, why not just block up and artery or two?

But anyways i'm going to stop nerding out and go to bed... I gotta get up early in the morning.

I know he can control metal and I know the statue's metal but I'm wondering why, if it's just that he can use the magnetic force to kind of push himself up, why hasn't he used it since?

Because...

It wasn't in the script.
