I won't be around for a while

I know I haven't been around much lately anyway (I've been lurking mostly, posting here and there), but starting next Thursday I'll be around even less. I was picked for jury duty and the trial starts next Thursday. It's supposed to last about 4-5 weeks.

I'll try to join in when I can!

Unacceptable

sneak a laptop in.

As of Thursday, I'm not allowed to read the newspaper, watch the news on TV, listen to local radio stations, or read the news online (how will they know??!!). The judge expects there to be media coverage on the trial.

Hurry back soon! Also bring books and tasty snacks and things for those "boring" moments!

Heh, I've already had the boring moments! It took two days to select the jury!

I've always wondered how this works, do you get paid?

I've always wanted to be on a jury, hurry back and tell us all about it....;)

$20 a day, but you don't get paid until you're done. So, I figure I'm looking at some good money if the trial lasts as long as the judge thinks it's going to. Except, they don't guarantee that they'll validate your parking garage ticket and they don't buy you lunch or dinner. You're on your own for that.

That's pretty crap, they should have a good spread of sandwiches, otherwise you will just get grumpy and convict them....
