help with a movie

I am looking for an old horror movie (not The Gate) I saw when I was younger with my mom. It had to have been in the 70’s because the kid was wearing bell bottoms. Anyway I just remember the ending. One scene the boy was swimming in a pool and the water began to get real choppy and the boy almost drowned. The dad jumps in and saves him, the family than decide that they are going to move and before they move the mom runs upstairs to the attic for some reason. The father is in a station wagon with his son and after a while the father runs upstairs to get his wife, who has now become possessed by an old lady who used to live in the attic. The wife than throws the husband out of the window onto the station wagon where his face explodes on the glass, scaring the little boy to run out of the car and as the boy looks up he watches the chimney fall apart and it ends up crushing the little boy, and than the movie is over. I have trying to figure out this movie forever hopefully someone can help me. Thanks.

Most of that description is amazingly similar to Burnt Offerings, although Oliver Reed's character was actually trying to kill his son in the pool, not save him.

Maybe one of the movies from the House series?

I'd say "Burnt Offerings" as well..."The Gate" had all those little monster/demon things skittering around.
