Masculinity in Action Movies.

i was reading a huge debate over at IMDB forums about Rambo IV. ( a rather hilarious debate at that. )

many people feel that this is an incredible revival for the action movies, which have been pussified scince the 80's. Action films now a days have morals and less violence. by the looks of rambo IV, its completly mindless, ultra violent, testosterone fueled awesomeness.

i happen to be for the idea. I love it. the mindless violence and macho mentality. people were all exited about the machoness of the film. for some reason, i just freakin love macho badass heroes, and according to what ive read, so do a whole lot of other people. what are your thoughts on this issue?

is exaggerated masculinity in action films kick ass or what?

It needs to be out there, I think. It's not so culturally detrimental as people say. How can anybody say that our culture has gotten more macho than ever after reading Beowulf? We need obnoxious Beowulfesque behavior in our entertainments because in real life we just can't be like that. Stallone does it for us. Unfortunately, this has seeped into our politics.

Yes, we need better action movies. Explosions, gun battles, car chases, sick psychopathic bad guys and larger-than-life heroes that kick the living shit out of them.

And isn't the new Die Hard coming out soon? The first one was one of the seminal action movies of all time.

Is it true this is going to be rated PG-13? Because that is very disappointing....love the others.

IMO, violence belongs in movies. nowhere else.

take all the violence going on in the world right now and stuff it into movies. thats what we should do.
