George A. Romero

Why is it that Italians are so good at horror films?

Okay, I know that this should probably go in another forum, but there's this book about him called "The Gospel of the Living Dead: George Romero's Vision of Hell on Earth" and it's fascinating. It's about his films and how they connect to religious and social issues in America. It's also humerous in the best way: morbid and creepifying.

He's up for an award this Saturday at the World Horror Convention and I really hope he gets it!! He's also nominated for a Foreword award, too.

Here's more info on the book:

You can buy it for about $15 on Amazon or Powell's.

George A. Romero is from N.Y. :p
That makes him an Italian/American.

Although the first post here is obvious spam, we could turn this into a nice discussion.

Has anyone seen The Crazies? By chance I caught it on TV awhile back, and absolutely loved it! It has that same apocalyptic, epic feel that his later Dawn of the Dead has, but is themed much differently.

I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

It's not spam!! jesus. I'm just genuinely interested! And im in marketing, so it's just my nature. and if people would read the book, we could discuss the issue why I set up this thread much more adequately.

and yes, thank you, he's Italian American. He's in America, but he's Italian. "Due Occhi Diabolici" much? Know your romero biyatch.

lets keep things friendly in the movie discussion areas please. we shouldn't always take a difference of opinions as a personal insult. just while we are on the subject, and i'm not saying it is spam, what is this phenomenon of spam in our forum? in the six months i've been here there has been several accusations but i wasn't sure if they were serious. ps.land of the dead was awful
