Favorite Scene From A Horror Movie?
Okay, okay, this is probably one of the toughest questions to be answered. I'm sure everyone has over fifty scenes that they can watch nonstop. But if you can, try to name just one scene. I don't mind two or three, but try to keep the number low, okay?
I have two favorite horror movie scenes... The first one is in Wrong Turn when three friends are attacked in the treetops of the woods. One of them loses their life when the killer sneaks up behind them and splits their head in half with an axe. (Amazing death sequence; my all-time favorite). Anywho, the whole scene just amazed me. I'm surprised at how real the treetops looked considering most of them were fake and some was just green-screen. The second one is in Scream when Tatum is getting attacked by Ghostface in the garage at a party. I LOVE the way she fought back. I had a feeling that she would fight back considering her attitude throughout the first half of the film. Anyway, her death scene was very emotional, IMO. But it was f'n brilliant, even though she was sort of a jackass to try to squeez her jugs through the small opening in the garage door. I never expected the killer to push the button for the garage door to go up. It was a big surprise to me for some reason. Anyway, she slowly rises to the top, struggling to come free from the opening. Next thing she knew - CRUNCH! Her head hit the beam at the top and crushed it. Ghostface exits the garage silently like nothing ever happened. Okay, yeah, those are my favorites. :D What are yours? |
Hallway scene in Exorcist III
First kill in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Death at end of Night of the Living Dead Drop of blood falls in eye in 28 Days Later Manfred (not sure it's his name) being freed in 28 Days Later Opening sequence of House of 1000 Corpses Ending of Blair Witch Project The creeper on top of the cop car in the background in Jeepers Creepers |
Nothing is better than the flying spheres in the original Phantasm. The scene where it drills into the groundskeeper's head and drains him of all his blood is amazing. You can only really see it on the DVD, but the guy pisses himself. Great scene.

Lawn mower scene from "Dead Alive", and the creation on the DR. Whatshisfuck Cenobite in "Hellraiser 2" are the first to come to my head but there are so many I could go on for a good bit.

i watching it today ill post his name later and i love both of those scenes:D |
I have seen so many striking frames (feet and wire in audition for one) but the one that really dropped my jaw was the Blair Witch ending, I have no idea why but it really got me.
Send more paramedics in ROTLD and pretty much anything out of Cannibal Holocaust are also worth a mention. Though anything out of Cannibal Holocaust would be most memorable rather than fave. That film, like audition, will never leave me... :) |
Leatherface's dance of death in the final moments of the original TCM. Poetry in motion.

Mine would proably be the 1st killing in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with the hook. The 1st death in Suspiria is pretty fucked up and stylish and the guy getting stabbed through the hands in Opera is cool for the general nastiness and brutality. Argento has the best death scenes.

Night of the Living Dead- I wont spoil who dies, but the death at the end almost made me cry, I LOVE all the characters in this movie, but especially this one. :(
*minor spoiler* Final Destiantion 2- When the glass falls on Tim and he gets crushed.... WOW is the only word I can think of. Its just the best, most creative, bloody, just plain fuckin cool death scene I have ever watched on film. I always rewind it and watch it 3 or 4 times. Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Dinner Party scene is so disturbing every single time, as well as the hook death and the freezer part, and Leatherface cutting his leg is cool also. |
