The Evil Dead vs Dawn Of The Dead

Which was a better movie, if not this then how about Evil Dead II vs Dawn of the Dead?

If you look up north at the HDC Top 100, you'll find that a lot of us here consider Dawn of the Dead to be the best horror movie ever made.:)

Hmmmm.... This is like comparing pears to apples and asking "which is the better fruit". Objectively, i dont think either is better, it all comes down to opinion.

I suppose if social commentary somehow makes a movie more "valid" than dawn of the dead, but i dont think that is a criteria most of us use when judging horror.

you know, it actually is something I look for and appreciate in my horror, scifi and fantasy - because these genres are so obviously unreal, it easier for them to address big social, theological and philosophical questions.

As such, Dawn of the Dead resonates long after viewing it. Sure Evil Dead lingers in the mind as fun, campy escapism, but the message of Dawn of the Dead is clear without being didactic...and that's great filmmaking.

i love them both equally for different reasons ... and one similar reason .. they were both landmark horror films for me ..

i'll tell you one thing though ..

i'm sure getting sick of all the freaking poles.

dont understand the concept of pitting films against each other .. its like comparing fingerprints and trying to decide which one is best.

did you just call us polacks?

I prefer The Evil Dead. Dawn of the Dead is superb, however.
