Anyone know anything about cars??

My car is broke down:mad: It will idle just fine, give it gas and it quits.I took it to a mechanic today and since it is a newer car he said it had to be tested with a computer thingy. He thinks the problem is a ground wire somewhere is off. It will cost $45 an hour for this guy to track down which wire it is,( he says there are thousands) and it will take at least a day and a half. Am i getting ripped off here? This sounds crazy to me.

Yeah, that guy is DEFINATELY trying to rip you off. The purpose of the computer thing is to tell him where the problem is so after he does that, he won't need to spend any time looking for it. Get your car out of there and tow it to a more reputable mechanic asap!

Whoever told you that is full of shit....It could be a number of things depending on the make of car...But as Trip said it sounds like a clogged fuel line...

What kind of car is it?
