I like spending money.

But this is nuts (not that I wasn't expecting this.)

I just added up the money I will need just to buy books for my upcoming university year.

44 books, and I am looking at over 650 sans tax. Of course the good thing about these books is that I can get all of them at normal bookstores, though I have yet to look for used.

I can say bye bye to basically everything I wanted to buy until after my degree :(.

Jeez....how many classes are you taking?

The STE 07-12-2006 10:30 PM

just one, but he's majoring in philosophy, so 44 books is actually rather low. As for having money after graduating....dude, you're kindof majoring in philosophy. You'd better get people their pizzas piping hot if you want good enough tips to live on

Tough to describe, technically it's just one.

It's called the Foundation Year, kinda a different way to take your first year BA.

It's all focused on liberal arts, so we do a section on the Ancient World, Middle Ages, Age of Reason etc. All of it focused on philosophy, theology, history, and the like. Instead of reading from textbooks, and studying it that way, we read the actual texts from that era.

As far as I can tell I go 4 days a week for a 2 hour morning lecture on a certain topic, then an hour later we sit for an hour in smaller classes of 10 and discuss it. Between all of this there is a huge amount of reading, and essays to be written.

Haha good call on what the classes are like, but no, I am not majoring in it.

This school also offers a very recognized journalism program.

I plan on doing this first year, and then entering the Journalism program second year.

Well, look on the bright side...at least you don't have to carry them all at once.:p

Elvis_Christ 07-12-2006 10:45 PM

Yeh I'm in the same boat dude. Books ain't cheap :(

Miss Olivia 07-12-2006 10:47 PM

I'm pretty lucky. Mine are covered by my grants.

Elvis_Christ 07-12-2006 10:49 PM

What do you study?

Miss Olivia 07-12-2006 10:54 PM

Right now I'm working on a Business degree, but that's only after changing from Nursing. I came to my senses and realized I don't really want to deal with shit and puke on an everyday basis.
