Need help naming 80's horror flick

Ok, I've got one for ya.
I've been trying to find out what movie this is forever.
It's an 80's "horror" movie starting out with a creature from outer space in the form of a bolt of electricity hitting a family's satellite dish and venturing into their home.
The creature then starts...how do I describe this... absorbing? the victims bodies and making them part of it.
It literally has parts of them sticking out of it, like it is using the parts to help trick the other victims into the same fate.
From what I remember the creature is a blob-like mass.
I can't remember much more but I hope someone else has seen this and can help me.

YeaH its not great as a "horror" movie but it can be comparable to "mars attacks" in the humor factor.

I actually am ashamed to admit that I saw that piece of shit film with my brother. (Not seeing horror films with my brother who is quite the horror afficianado- but seeing the film itself).

Hey, didn't it have that pudgy chic from Natl Lampoons European Vacation?
