Just a little know from those that know
 

I need a sword that can be used by itself or paired with a sword of the same kind for two handed usage. You know, something like the Gladius, but not the Gladius. Please, for the love of all things weaponry, don't give me any Japanese swords...they're over done these days.

Something Europen or Middle Eastern would be nice. I'll take Chinese.

Can anyone help a Witch/writer out?

It's European and pretty light, so most likely it could be double-handed.

The Dutch Cutlass

It's a pirate sword and its close-combat, so double-fist away.

The Archer's Short Sword

It was primarily a back-up weapon for archers (duh) but it was strong enough to pierce most armor of the time.
