Creature Feature

Do anyone remember creature feature and all of those horror movies. Well here is a listing.

I never saw Creature Feature. But I wish I had! I am very aware of Dr. Paul Bearer and his work. Recently I got a back issue of Famous Monsters that had a whole article on the Creature Feature show, and it looked like a great horror host show.

But, I never saw a horror host that I really didn't like. They're all good!

I feel so jipped that I grew up without horror host shows. I saw movies that referenced them, but with the exception of a Halloween special or something I didn't see any until I was an adult, and that's just not the same.

When I was growing up in Philadelphia, we had Dr. Shock. I later found out, when I was in high school, that he lived down the street from me. I went to school with his oldest daughter. Alas, he died quite a few years ago from heart failure. RIP Dr. Shock!!

You mean this Dr. Shock, right?

I also grew up without horror hosts/hostesses. That's a terrible tradegy. But at the cause of my deprivation, I'm interested in pursuing a carreer in horror hostessing. I wonder if it's an industry that could have life pumped back into it.

I think a lot of people would like to see more of that stuff. I know I would. I think horror hosts/hostesses are the cat's pajamas.

I saw Elvira do her live show a couple of times at Knotts Scary Farm's Halloween Haunt, and I was very entertained. This was a song and dance show (she didn't host a movie) but it was still Elvira. She rocked the house!

I know Debbie Rochon is doing a show Trailer Park on Fango TV that is supposed to be reminiscent of those days and DVD's (like two I worked on as camera operator) are using horror hosts/hostesses to combine shorts as a feature length direct-to-video release. The ones I worked on have Debbie Rochon also, playing Mistress Misty. They are very cheese-laiden segments with over the top acting. Sort of reminiscent of MST 3K, in that it is one person interacting with puppets or animals or other non-human characters.

The director's theory was that the more campy the F/X are in the wraparound segments, the more serious the other low budget F/X will look in the short films.

Maybe you should look into hosting a horror film fest and pick up a DVD gig that way. All those filmmakers looking for an actress to make sense of thier movies.
