i don't think it's actually the downloading movies that is bad, but the selling of movies that is badder, don't get me wrong, downloading movies is illegal and shouldn't happen, but probably 95% of pc users do it, but what makes it worse is that people copy the movies to dvd and sell them, that is what hurts the profits of movies, that is what needs to be stopped.
i admit, i download movies occaisionally, but the difference is, i download them, watch them then delete them, why, cuz i wanna know if a movie is worth buying on dvd when it comes out retail, ive spent too many years buying films at almost £20 each finding out the movie is shite, taking the movie to Blockbusters to trade in and them giving me 60p for the movie, ive stopped going to the cinema to see a film first to see if the film is worth buying when it comes to dvd cuz all the cinemas are about now is making money on concessions rather than promoting the movie ( i know cuz ive worked for 2 cinemas, and trust me, don't buy the food, i know where it's been), so in my opinion, we as consumers are being screwed left, right and centre from all who is connected with a movie.
so in my opinion, downloading a movie, altho it is illegal, will never stop, but if anyone downloads a movie just to watch it and then to delete it afterwards isn't too bad, it only is mega badness when that person copies the movie to dvd and sells it to make money for themselves, so what Sam say's is correct, but aimed at the wrong process, if Tubalcain is wanting to download movies to make a profit, then Sam is correct, but if Tubalcain is just wanting to view the film to see if it worth his money to buy the retail copy, then, be it still illegal, it isn't as bad as it isnt considered piracy.
like i said, every so often i will download a movie, but just to see if that movie is worth buying retail, not to make a profit for myself, as i said, i always delete the movie afterwards.
i hope all that made sense, if it did, could someone explain it to me as i got lost halfway thru typing it...lol
