P2p

Just curious what you guys use for P2P. Ive got a german version of Kazaa that works pretty decent, but if you arent sharing a certain percentage they treat you like a leper and barely get hooked up.

Arioch 09-06-2004 09:11 AM

Kazaa lite and Edonkey2000

jay o2 waster 09-06-2004 09:57 AM

p2p messes up my comp.

kpropain 09-06-2004 10:04 AM

I've used a lot of different programs for p2p...Kazza I have found to be a haven of virus's and spyware if you are not careful......

Bearshare is pretty good..I used it for quite a while..

I recomend Limewire over anything...It is supposed to be virus free and the downloads are usually very fast...The is the best p2p filesharing program that I have found...

Sistinas 09-06-2004 10:16 AM

I use limewire.

Vampenguin 09-06-2004 10:18 AM

Kazaa Lite

But I run Spyware search and destroy constanly, pretty much

massacre man 09-06-2004 11:00 AM

Ugh dude, i wouldnt be doing that your clogging your computer with spyware and other very very very unhealthy junk from those programs :(

fluffho 09-07-2004 12:16 AM

i think with kazaa, spyware is a problem. i think limewire is clean but im not too sure with bearshare

Distorty 09-07-2004 12:23 AM

Hrmmm i will check on limewire, but i know Kazaa is a spyware nightmare.

cheebacheeba 09-07-2004 03:41 AM

Jesuis, for your poor kazaa performance due to a low file count,
just make a blank notepad/text file, and duplicate it, then duplicate the two of them, then duplicate the four, then duplicate the eight...etc.
It's a slow process to begin with, but gets quicker and quicker, with more and more files being created.

Now when you have around 4000 of these empty files (I only reccomend blank notepad files, as they are the smallest kind I know how to make, so they don't actually take up much space.)

Put these duplicated files into your "shared" folder, and there you go, it fools kazaa into thinking you have that many files shared, and you get more searches, more results, and HEAPS faster d/ls.
Just a little trick I figured might work, and hey, it did...

I'd reccomend anti-spyware programs to be run after every use (kazaa) though, as vamp said, spyware s&d is a pretty good one.

Most other programs are too insecure. It is VERY easy to get caught using software such as Kazaa/lite, Bearshare, etc.

Also, for those of you who insist on using P2P applications, check out a program called PeerGuardian. It blocks the ports and protocols that the RIAA and MPAA use to access your PC.

I use DietKazaa if absolutely necessarry...

Have started using Bit-Torrent, and couldnt be happier. i got the new Dawn of the Dead, DVD quality, in under 2 hours.

I occasionally fire up WinMx to spread frake pron to the perverts in the world. you would be amazed at some of the titles people download....

So YOU'RE THE ONE who had me downloading that fake kiddie porn!

Oh, wait.....

Vodstok 09-07-2004 06:04 AM

HEHE! YUP!

I really giot a kick out of watching people agonize on a dial-up line, downloading a movie they thought was going to be a guy nbanging a male german sheppard, then smacking it, only to find out that it was footage from "Homeworld".

One title i used was along the lines of "old man in wheelchair takes dump on young woman sucking pig cock."

When you open the picture, it was all text that said:

You wanted to see a chick get shit on by an old man while sucking a pig dick?!?! You sick FUCK!

I used to get a lot of angry pms....:D

roflmao thats funny... will have to try something like that

ShankS 09-07-2004 06:48 AM

as for p2p......

stopped using kazaa and some others a while ago, just use ABC Bittorrent client now, and search for the things I want on a few decent torrent sites.

I'd suggest, as already mentioned, running PeerGuardian in the background... weeds out all those nasty i.p addys.

Vodstok 09-07-2004 06:50 AM

I have Ad-Aware and Spy-bot on my opc, plus diet-k stops kazaa's adware from running. my pc has been free of bullshit for well over a year.

Vodstok 09-07-2004 08:39 AM

spyware is a pain in the ass, but there are a ton of programs out there that will protect you against it, so no big worries there:
ad-aware
Spybot

Plus tons more.

Egekrusher 09-07-2004 11:15 AM

Ad Aware, Spybot and Hijack This are the greatest tools ever invented for ridding your PC of spyware.

I'm gonna be getting an internet connection pretty soon at home, cable internet, should have very nice speeds (3MB + down 512k upload). I will be sharing my 7000+ mp3 collection on Direct Connect. Only trusted friends will be allowed.
