Did ya know......
Y'all probably gonna shoot me down on the fact that i've only jus found out this fact but.....
Was readin a book bout the makin of horror movies last night and found out that micheal's mask in Halloween is a actually a Star Treck Captain Kirk mask sprayed white. Aparently they had a choice of that or a clown mask. Never thought those two phenomeli (sp?) would be linked. Ready to take a beating now.....px |
Sorry old news.

LMAO yeah this is ancient news, where have you been the last ole say 20 years.. |
I'm obviously misinformed here, but hey, I thought it was kinda funny when I heard that the mask was actually a inside out face-mould of Mark Hamill painted white...was that just a rumour eh?
|
and in other news.....man discovers fire.
|
Well that wasn't as bad as I expected.
|
Well, thats not completly accurate. It is a mask of William Shatner, but its from the movie "Devil's Rain" and not from Star Trek.
|
I saw a thing on AMC about it and it also said Star Trek mask.
|
Shatner, old news, but that doesnt make it any less cool, preacher.
I know everyone is just picking, but not EVERYbody is 100% up on every piece of horror trivia. how about a little i have discovered recently: In the new Dawn of the Dead, 3 people from the original have cameos: Tom Savini is in both, a biker in the original and the "colonel" on tv in the remake Peter from the original (Ken Foree) is the evangelist in the second, repeating his line from the original "When there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth." Roger from the first (Scott Reiniger) plays a general who speaks on tv in the remake. Dog Soldiers is full of references: the character Bruce's name is Bruce Campbell It is full of Aliens references. The Sarge's name is HG Wells. |

From IMDB Due to its shoestring budget, the prop department had to use the cheapest mask that they could find in the costume store: a William Shatner mask, from Devil's Rain, The (1975). They later spray-painted the face white, teased out the hair, and reshaped the eyeholes. |
Amazing isnt it? the cheap shit becomes a cultural icon, while really expensive shit (like the bugs from Starship troopers) get forgotten after a few years
|
I'm glad they didn't go with the clown mask.

I assumed the other names had significance, i just didnt know what. i will be looking this up now, zwoti :D
I try to be as "in the know" as i can, but you definately have me beat in the movie department. i'll stick to animals and food :) |

A better example might be The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, made with virtually no money at all...Compared to it's highly funded remake... |
Another good example of the original being far better than the remake would be "The Time Machine" 1960. Sure the effects were cheesy but a much better movie than the 2002 version.
