Kill Bill II?
Hey I bought it and just watched it. I know that alot of people like it better but I found it very slow..........yes I know totally different type of movie...........but it is a sequel...........
I do think it was important to the story and well done.........just slow. The first is a favorite of mine! Agree? Disagree? |
Not trying to kiss any booty, or tread on Stingy's post about everybody getting along, but I totally agree. Very slow. It was kind of a pre-queal/sequal. You can't really watch one and not the other, so a good way to make money for the filmmakers.
Kind of OT...my wife and I took the kids to Kings Island a couple of weeks ago, and while on the road there, I saw a little black sports car with the license plate, " NINE 9", I knew it couldn't be you but they say everybody has a twin... |

not a sequel, not a prequel, not a different type of movie. Same movie. It was written and shot as one movie. It was split up in post-production because Miramax thought it would have been too long. It's the same movie.

Just watched it a couple of days ago and I loved it. I agree that it is a bit slower but I never thought it was too slow. I think Vol. 1 and 2 form a wonderful movie. I do wish we would have seen a little more of a fight between Bill and The Bride but I was still very satisfied. Oh yeah, have you guys watched the deleted scene on the dvd? It's freaking hilarious. |

There was apparently supposed to be a bigger fight between Bill and The Bride, like the one he described, but they ran over time or over budget, so Harvey Weinstein or someone apparently said to wrap it up quicker, so we got what we got. |

|
Neither one of these movies lived up to the hype surrounding them....i was let down by both....but on top of that...is the colossal let down of the LOTR....i agree HB, LOTR is something i will NEVER watch for fun....

Batman and Robin = death to the batman movie legacy....

KBV2 totally sucked compared to KBV1. Too much shit to list. I agree with the quote from a critic who said Quentin Tarantino is in love with his own voice when reviewing V2. It was a major let down on so many levels.

I haven't seen it. I've heard that it was slow and not as much action as the first one. I loved the first one. I haven't bought 1 or 2 on DVD yet. Just waiting till they release it in a set with all that extra shit.
I watched the first one again last night on DVD and watched the teaser trailer for the 2nd one. And the teaser was so bad. That's why it's a teaser, right? I don't know. But yeah, Uma's awesome. |
KBV1 was a fantastic mix of genres, over the top martial arts, anime and music. KBV2 had none of that. There is about a 5 minute fight scene (if that much) between The Bride and Elle, maybe 2 minutes when The Bride and her Kung Fu master spar and the worst of the worst: about 10 seconds of the big showdown between The Bride and Bill where (and I am NOT making this up) they never even leave their chairs where they were conversing. No interesting music bits, no new characters (except for the Kung Fu master which has been in every Samurai Sunday movie on your local UHF channel and The Bride's 4 year old daughter), no anime. Even if you did put the entire story in chronological order to even out the pacing, the second half would still be flat as hell plus you'd still be stuck with the weak ending of Bill and The Bride. All the loose ends are tied up at the end for the most part, but it still leaves you with a feeling that something more should've happened.

A bad call..........Left us with one great film and one slow one.........which should have never happened in the first place! |
No it wouldn't. All the great action sequences would still be in the first half of it. Budd shoots her and ties her up, 5 minute battle with Elle (which could've been massive since she quite obviously held a grudge against Beatrix) and that awful ass ending with Bill would still be in the second half. If Beatrix's hit list was rearranged perhaps it could be more even, but nothing can fix the Bill ending (unless she killed him first and worked her way down the list instead).

Prob a perfect flic before the butchering. |
He supposedly wrote it out all first before the weird time frames ( I do it myself sometimes as well for my screenplays, but not often). They were supposedly all shot at the same time so he didn't do such a hot job on editing V2 then to make flow as well as V1. It almost seems like he wasted all the good ideas and footage on V1 and just culled the leftovers for V2. Very un-Q-ish.

the short fight was because they ran out of time/budget. They were supposed to do the fight on the beach, but the producers told them to wrap it up. The short fight fits the story just fine. If The Bride can wipe out the Crazy 88, she shouldn't have THAT much trouble killing Bill, who is no doubt out of practice at actually fighting. And it worked in the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart technique better than a long epic-type sword fight would have.
|
I find it hard to believe that after the success of the KBV1 that Q wasn't given cart blanche to do as he pleased on V2. Hell, he could've invested some of his own money into for a piece of the back end. V2 seemed like a total farce compared to the first one as far as I'm concerned. All the pieces were in place and they seemed to just fall where they may. If and when Q does do a follow-up (Copperhead's daughter comes for revenge- 15 years from now), I hope he can put a little more effort into it than what seemed apparent in V2.

is the fact that it's one movie not getting through to you for a reason?
|
Not at all, Sam. Is the fact I find the second half of the movie inferior to the first half not getting through to you ?
CK |
it's getting through, but your "they should've had more money or time since Kill Bill 1 was so successful" reasoning is bullshit because, once again, it was all one movie. Let me know when this fact DOES get through to you.
|
I'm a film maker myself so I know all about time and budgets. I wish I had half the time and budget Q did for the second half that he did. Nine asked who saw it and what their opinions were. I gave mine. You don't care for my reasons ? Fine. Live with it.
CK |
It. Was. All. One. Movie. One movie. How many movies? 1. Volume 2 is half of a movie. Volume 1 is half of the same movie. It's one movie. ONE movie. One movie. One movie. One movie. One movie. One movie. One movie. One movie. One movie. Didn't hear me? Don't worry, I'll say it again. ONE GOD DAMN MOVIE! It's not that hard of a concept. Just take the number of movies you seem to THINK that it is, and divide by two. Or subtract one. Either way, it'll get you the actual number of movies, which is ONE. If it hasn't sunk in yet, let me know and I'll tell you again about how it was one movie.

And that's fine. I don't give a shit THAT you didn't like it. But all the stuff around that is stupid.

But, maybe the fact that it's one movie isn't where you're going horribly wrong. Allow me to explain the concept of something being one movie as opposed to it being two movies. When you make one movie, you don't wait around to see how well people like the first part of it. You make it all at once. When you make two movies you can see how people like the first one. In some cases (Scary Movie 4), they might not do that. But the option is there, unlike when there is one movie. Same kind of thing with the budget. See, you have a budget for a movie. But when you do two movies, you have a budget for both movies. Understand? One Movie = One Budget. Two Movies = Two Budgets. |
hmmm so Q was completely unable to see how unbalanced the two halves of the movie would be when they were released ? I wonder how much time and money it would take to film secondary footage of a stand-in rewriting Beatrix's hit list so all the non-stop action didn't happen in the first half of the film and let the second half fall flat due to lack of any of the enthusiasm the first half held ? No interesting music, cross genres, anime, over the top action, etc in the second half of the movie, but plenty in the first. Perhaps the script supervisor and editor should be held equally accountable then for putting everything many people enjoyed in the first half of the movie and having nothing left to put in the second half.
So far all anyone here has heard is you repeating over and over "it's one movie, it's one movie". Did you have any opinions on it or did you specifically post here just to hear yourself speak. Rather than your "one movie" mantra, you haven't said anything at all. CK |
Well....... guys..............I get both your points here, both make sense to me.........now I will silently slip out of the firing range.......lol! :p
