the future...
|
mid-1800's
For the last 3 years, Ive had the oppurtunity (sp?) to live for a week in a simulated 1800's village. We have very few modern conveniences, and absolutly none (Thank god) most of the day. Even afterwards, we only have the bare nessesites (Modern Kitchen an Washroom) Some of the best experinces Ive ever had, would love to live in that time period |
Deffently the middle ages. Just something about smashing someones head in with a nice war hammer while I'm fighting with my scottish armstrong brothers for my country. Honor
|
The 80's.
|
The 70's
|
ay... i couldnt be alive before 1970... 69 saw the birth of the most beautifull car on this plannet, the 69 camaro...
allthough id much rather be alive around the 800`s with a sword in my hand and a long boat under my comand. |
Shit I wish I could have been right smack dab in the middle of WWII.....So the late 30's and the 40's for me....
|
70's
|
But unfortunatly, If I lived in the 1800's, I wouldnt have horror, or forums.....or Kings of Chaos ( http://www.kingsofchaos.com/recruit.php?uniqid=4ccqn666 )
Hey, life'd be good anyway. |
Nice thread idea....
Middle Ages, the roaring 20's, the wild west, the 60's (for the fucking MUSCLE CARS, GODDAMN how did i manage to miss THAT age) shit...there are some more.....early 90's so i could REALLY get into grundge, or maybe steal Nirvana's thunder and beat them to the punch..... So basically anytime but now i guess.... |
70's, that's when all the best movies came out
question: Are we traveling back in time to live there, or are we changing when we were born? |

Summer of Sam?
|
50's, 60's or 70's. great movies, actors, music, causes...
|
Because of my age, I remember the 50's, 60,s---Grad HS in 1961--the 70's--BBA 1971--The Eighty's and the Ninety's.
The 50's were okay--in school we spent all of our time sticking our heads under our desks to kiss our asses goodbye(Nuclear War)--and everyone you knew was getting polio--no cure or vaccine. Automobiles were great, movies, girls, people in general--Okay. The Sixties were pretty much an extension of the 50's. I would have likes to lived in the 20's or 30's. Cars drove like shit, Influenza would kill you--and if you did too much screwy you spent your life in a locked mental ward--with shock treatments. Horror movies were good--but silent--and the whole era seemed glamorous. Sorry I missed it. |
Gotta agree HB....good idea for a thread.
I grew up in the 70s....lots of fun....drinking beer , listening to skynyrd, kinda like one of those movies.Aids wasen't an important issue yet, girls rarely wore bras [ i know those two don't really belong in the same sentence but it was the 70s, and as important as an issue AIDS is now...it wasn't then.] and thats the beauty of it.Much simpler times. Sure there was the whole vietnam issue going on but I was to young for that to affect me,and only in my later years did I realize what a complete fuck up that was.....kinda like.........Oh.......I don't know......maybe...... ......Oh yeah....IRAQ. Sorry...thats not what this threads is about........ So if I was to pick any era it would probabaly be.......hmmm...I'm kinda drawn to the late 1800s...The Wyat Earp years...I'm not sure if I believe in reincarnation, but if there is, I seem to have some connection with that time era. hmmmmm.....Wyat Newb...the fastest gun in the west. |

Memento, actually, and how is it my movie? Granted, it's one of the best movies ever, but there are plenty of other movies that would make more sense
|
Just remembered you having it on your avatar for a while....

hell.. we're STILL non existant example.. enrique iglesias.. the latin heartthrob. that motherfucker is half filipino. but do they ever mention that?? nope...... then again we have lucy lui to represent us  |

http://www.tagaloglang.com/enrique.htm "Enrique Iglesias is a world-famous artist of dual heritage -- his father is the Spanish singing legend Julio Iglesias and his mother the gorgeous Filipina journalist/socialite Isabel Preysler who was born in Manila. He does have memories of visiting the Philippines as a child and of eating Filipino food prepared by his grandmother. " Arioch - i think u know what i meant.. so ill stop there. and dont even start me on geography. i barely know the states. Sam - same. and if i cant name lucy lui.. who? oh wait. theres chow yun fat, xiang xe yi.. hmmmmm... but where the flips at??? edit: oh stupid me. i mustve forget. the entire cast of 'the debut' ....... |

anyway.. mainstream wise.. there is NO ONE! i think people are more familiar with fuckin jasmine trias than any of the ones u mentioned |
then go with Akira Kurosawa. Sure, he's dead, but nobody'd bat an eye if you said he's the best director ever, which counts for something.
Others: Ang Lee (At least he did Crouching Tiger, Hidden etc.) Jackie Chan (Used to be good, still has SOME name value) Jet Li (Hero) That asian guy from the Matrix movies Kobé Tai |
I don't know. I want to go back to the real Old West. Meet Wild Bill Hickok. Maybe even Wyyat Eurp. Oh! I know: Doc Holliday! If I could have anything it the world it would be to have been able to met Doc Holliday so If I could live in one era it would be the one he lived in. Ever seen Tombstone? That was great movie and the actor who played Doc played him very well. One of my favorite movies.
'I'm your huckleberry.' Or back when The King was alive. The 60's I believe it was. Elvis: The King of Rock 'N' Roll. Or maybe Johny Cash. |
Val Kilmer played Doc in Tombstone, and yes, it was a great job
And Johnny Cash >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>> Elvis, the overrated piece of shit |
Thats it! Val Kilmer. He was hilarious.
Cowboy: you're so drunk you can shoot anything. Infact... {takes out a big knife} you're probley seeing double. Doc: [Takes out his other gun so now he's holding two guns] I got two guns. One for each of ya. And don't diss the King. |
FUCK the "king". The "king" was an overrated, nigh talentless sack of shit. He didn't even get the Famous Death right. He overdosed on fucking doctor-type drugs. Perscription shit, not coke or heroin. At least go down in a plane like Buddy Holly or something. He died a fat slob who was a parody of his former, talentless self, and I'm glad. Fuck him.
