Old School: Vincent Price...Bela Lugosi

Modern: Anthony Perkins...Anthony Hopkins...Bruce Campbell

It's a toss-up between Christopher Lee and Donald Pleasance for me. Pleasance's performance in Raw Meat was great.

jay o2 waster 08-02-2004 02:21 PM

Steven Railsback

Dr.Kelvinstein 08-02-2004 02:54 PM

It's all a matter of taste, right? They all have their moments, but I gotta go with Bela Lugosi. There's also a great biography about him by Arthur Lenning that's been out six months or so. Check it out. I also like Lon Chaney, Jr as Larry Talbot in the Wolfman, though. And what about Barabara Steele---easily my favorite actress in the genre.

Too bad David Warbeck didn't make more genre fodder.

Raw Meat does rock, by the way. And speaking of Steve Railsback, ever see him put that game rooster's head in his mouth and blow on it in Cockfighter? I guess that's method acting.

I gotta agree with the people that said Vincent Price...

Vincent Price is by far the greatest old school actor...

ShankS 08-03-2004 03:06 AM

the Zombies in 28 days later should ge oscars.

g star 08-03-2004 06:35 AM

not sure i'd call him THE best but thought i'd mention robert englund since nobody else has yet. also the greatest ACTRESS is far and away hands down no question LINNEA QUIGLEY.

I agree. :) I think the naked chick should get an award for having the bballs to run through the woods buck-naked and barefoot, screaming bloody murder, and then fall, shot.

Hate_Breeder 08-03-2004 03:23 PM

Ahhh Boris Karloff, and Vincent Price.

Living/Dead 08-03-2004 05:35 PM

Even though I'm not really a fan of the old classics I would have to go with Boris Karloff for longevity and love for the horror genre. Problem is these days it's hard to pick a great horror actor because most actors don't plug themselves in a single genre.

Some great perfomances...
Anthony Perkins
Bruce Campbell
Anthony Hopkins
Johnny Depp
Donald Pleasance

Karloff in The Mummy scared the living shit out of me when I was a wee lad.

Vincent Price hands down!

Mr. Nash 08-03-2004 07:18 PM

Vincent Price, by far. But Robert Englund would be a close second. So would Anthony Hopkins. Man am I going to hate it when they die (of course, Vincent is already dead). All three of my favorites dead and gone. Never to make another film again. Best not think of that...

Maybe even Bruce Campbell... Army of Darkness was pretty funny. Wouldn't call it a 'Horror' movie though. On Horror ratings it sucked. But on Comedy it was pretty funny. I wonder if The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 are as funny... I do like a good Comedy.

Scarymovie411 08-03-2004 07:21 PM

I've never seen any movies in the Evil Dead series..

orangestar 08-03-2004 07:24 PM

Mr. Price of course, but Anthony Hopkins is in the list somewhere, along with Brian Cox. Robert Englund is there too.

juanhacko 08-03-2004 08:38 PM

Anyone ever see Vincent Price in The Bat?
Of course it was more mystery than horror.
He was a "heartthrob" in Laura, but it too was more mystery than horror.
