What is your mental disorder?

No, this is not a quiz.

I just want to know how many people on here have been diagnosed, by a doctor or by yourself, with a mental disorder, and what that disorder is.

ShankS 07-21-2004 11:42 AM

never been diagnosed with any dissorder, but I think I have one now after reading all the shit polls this evening.

Vodstok 07-21-2004 11:45 AM

I would say i have adult adhd, but i cant concentrate.....

Actually, i am Hyperactive, and i think i have a slight physical dependance on alchohol. Or maybe it is ment6al. i dont know, it is there though.

must admit myself, If I have too many expressos in the mornings and i have to go out, the high caffine intake makes me paranoid about things.... like I'm all on edge for a while, then after about an hour I'm back to normal.

Egekrusher 07-21-2004 12:41 PM

Self-Diagonsis:

Compulsive spending
Addictive personality
Extreme stubborness
Obsessive/Compulsive (I wash my hands constantly)

That's about it. As far as I know.

ShankS 07-21-2004 12:57 PM

how do you guys go about with this 'self' diagnosis..? do you read up on symptoms you feel you have, in books and on the net, or from what other people tell you in social circles etc.

orangestar 07-21-2004 12:58 PM

I just started taking Zoloft for:

Medium severity Social Anxiety Disorder
Very mild OCD

Attention Deficit Disorder- fancy way of saying I have the attention span of a mosquito.

There are different levels of OCD. For me, it's counting stairs as I go up/down them. I have to make the flight of stairs in 6 steps, or multiples of 6. I tap my feet and hands on the ground/desk/chest/whatever convenient location there is. Also, if I touch something with just one of my fingers, I have to touch it an equal amount of times with the rest of them.

You like backwards sex???

Being annoying is not a mental disorder, dear, no matter what people may tell you.

Narcolepsy sucks. I used to have it, but I found out I was anemic and just needed more iron in my blood.

No, I don't actually think it's a good idea to do a self-diagnosis. I just wanted to reply. In reality, there's probably nothing wrong with me at all.

A lot of mine is self diagnosis, but I spent the better part of a year reading medical journals and researching online before I was satisfied with them.

The depression/anxiety are doctor diagnosed.

That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about. I do the same thing with remotes. It's crazy, and can be quite maddening.

and the worst thing is. in the process of touching the buttons, maybe my pinky finger will accidently touch the button so then i hafto do it with my pink.

then to make it worse, my pinky finger is harder to control so instead of touching 1 button itll touch 2 at the same time, so i hafto continue going around touching each 1, then i hafto start touching them in pairs...

LOL

... weirdo.

but what im wondering is why 4's?? at least in my case i think its cuz the way hands are, the 4 fingers and then the thumb which is all by itsself.

I have no idea, just as I have no idea why I count steps in 6's.

Stingy Jack 07-21-2004 01:45 PM

Here's something I do without really thinking about it:

If I am watching a TV show, I find myself counting the syllables in the lines of dialogue. I will repeat a line that was just spoken in my mind, and count the syllables. It will bother me slightly if the syllable count does not end in with a multiple of ten before the character is through speaking and another one starts.

YOU FUCKIN FREAK!!!

Stingy Jack 07-21-2004 01:51 PM

Ummm .... Let me see, here ....

Fulffho: "if im i dunno maybe eating cereal or something and the box is in front of me. ill start 'typing out' what is on the box. like with my fingers on the keyboard. but mainly thoug, its just counting in 4. like if it says 'kelloggs cereal' ill go kell, oggs, cere and from there keep going in 4s. ill try to do as much as i can and it bugs me if it doesnt end in 4

Fluffo again: "i dont do the stairs thing but i do do the thing with the fingers. like if i am using the remote control and i press chanel 32. i tap my fingers on 1, 4-9, 0 to make it even.

i wash my hands like a motherfucker.

And again: "sometimes when I find some roadkill, if it is still fluffy, i will stuff it down the front of my shirt and rub my body all over it. or ... when i am eating a pizza, i will throw each slice at the wall to determine if it is edible or not. i will eat it if it sticks to the wall, but not if it falls off or slides down"

I rest my case.

Hey! That's 10 syllables! (If you give "mild" 2. In the south, it takes 2 to say! :) )

Egekrusher 07-21-2004 02:05 PM

If you consider the enunciation of the word instead of the structure, then it would be 2 syllables. My-uld

I think im mildly retarded

orangestar 07-21-2004 08:11 PM

Theres this weird quirk that I have, its a little hard to explain. Here goes.

Everything that has an angle, in my mind I try to split everything up into either L's or V's. Mostly L's. Like when Im watching a TV, if I am alone I'll make my fingers in the shape of an L and hold it up to the TV. I've done this since I can remember, and I almost never realize Im doing it.

Another one- Almost everything I say, I try to translate into Spanish. A lot of times I'll be typing a message on here and I wont know how to say something in Spanish so I have to look it up. I swear I've done that multiple times.

Hey, nothing wrong with polishing your Spanish. Personally, I don't think enough people speak more than one language. Especially in America.

Here's another one about me: I'm a hypochondriac. Seriously. My wife tells me this all the time, and the moment something feels slightly wrong with me, I will go all beserk and start looking up the symptoms to these deadly diseases on the internet to see if I might be dying. It's pretty nutty.

Hate_Breeder 07-21-2004 08:30 PM

I have to be doing something. I can stand watching TV for a long time. I like going outside but theres nothing to do in this town so i get very frustrated.
