ANY NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS?
 
Nothing hard core. No more desserts but not totally giving up sugar. Getting off the couch more and to stop wearing so much black.

I try not to make resolutions since I always break them. But, my goal is to get my A1C under 7.

I know what you mean. Baby steps. I figure if i try to give up just dessert foods first, the rest might fall into place.

I hope u can get your A1C down. Diabetes leads to so much.

Most I ever hear seem to be about personal health etc...in which case, I've kind of already put some things into effect as off last year, and I'm beginning to see the results/benefits of having done that, so I'll just maintain.

I never really do the "less of this, more of this" thing...though after my NYE binge...I'm kind of doing a little bit of a detox at the moment.

I don't drink so, that's already a thing.
I'll completely ditch soda and milkshakes I think...gone way off those already but it's not yet at zero. Pretty sure I can get it there with like zero effort.

I'd like to save more.

I'd like to make it a point to walk my dog more, spend more time with the few friends that I've got, and generally try to be a bit more proactive/less lazy with things.

Other than that it's largely task oriented.

Homework. I will help with homework, if there is homework.

We have almost the complete run of the "build the delorean" 1/8 scale model piling up in boxes...we WILL build that.

I'd like to do some overseas travel come the end of the year. Myself, the wife, the kid have never been abroad, like, at all...so...yeah, maybe just a SE Asian destination, someplace nice but cheap to stay at like Thailand - Gonna at least work towards that one.

So yeah, it's just "stuff" really, a task list, and a "don't fuck this up" list...never really make it too official though.

That's distasteful, Nair.
I just meant more gym has been happening in a more controlled way, and that I've made some dietary changes that have stuck.
Been better financially too, most of the junk, the take-away/home delivered stuff is the most expensive in terms of food...so fucked most of that off...still changes to be made, still a work in progress.

I can understand wanting to live alone...something stopping you from doing that though? You can always move towards changes...but if you're used to sharing expenses things can be "different".
Though you adjust to almost anything...as long as you can keep a roof and the lights on, and learn to consider noodles, soup, and toast as "meals" on the occasion it's possible.
Unless you just murder someone and assume their life or whatever, that might help.

I just came across this just now. Right now it's not smoking and I need to quit, because of my health. It's affecting me badly. So this is something I'm doing at the moment. Not smoking and not going back to smoking. It's a nasty habit I pick up when I was in my mid 20's. Why? I have no idea why. Probably for stupid foolish reasons. I'm so glad I'm quitting now.

Heyyyyyyyy, Night! Good luck with that. I quit in my early 30's. I tried 2 or 3 times and then it finally stuck. Its a stinky habit and expensive. I hope it works for you. ::cool::

What do you think were the most helpful things that helped you quit? Was it occupying yourself with something else, like gum, tictacs, etc? Was it a patch? Was it exercise? Was it redefining who you are as a someone who doesn't smoke?

I started when i was about 13. I think after 20 years of smoking, i was just tired of it. I just wanted to be free of the habit. Fresh instead of stale.

Same. I started when I was 21, quit in 2011. Was tired of that nasty taste in my mouth, my clothes, house, and car smelling disgusting.
