Courage the Cowardly Dog
Anyone else remember this cartoon? It was one of my favorite shows during my childhood and I own all four seasons on DVD.
It was funny but also kind of spooky at times. In a way the show reminded me of Scooby Doo except that the monsters were all real and it was about a cowardly dog protecting his owners and not a cowardly dog solving mysteries with a bunch of teenagers. |
One of my favorite episodes was "Heads of Beef" where this talking pig couple was running a hamburger restaurant and it was implied that they were killing their customers and turning them into hamburgers. Delicious! ::devil::

Yes, I used to watch it after school.

...stupid dog!
I was dating this girl a few years ago and one night we drank San Pedro (mescaline) tea and watched every episode on Netflix and I never laughed so much in my entire life. |

And I loved how Eustace often got killed in most of the episodes. He pretty much brought it on himself for being such a grouchy asshole. |
Sorry, I just now realized you replied to this haha. But yeah he was an asshole but he was like Kenny from South Park. He could keep dying but kept coming back. I'm sure some people might get freaked the hell out watching something like that on psychedelics that was the first time I had ever watched any of those episodes except or maybe one or two episodes so it was all new to me. I wish they would make more.

I love Courage the Cowardly Dog!
That was a great show! And I swear there was an episode of, Lost, that referenced it without even saying a word. That was cool! Or...you know...I was just imagining that. Pretty sure it happened, though. |

well a lot of people usually only watch one or two episodes, usually the first one or two episodes and they make up their mind based on those but each episode is so different. Think of it like an R-rated Back to the Future with Multiverse hopping like Stewie and Brian did in that episode of Family Guy. I mean the humor is everything from Ranchi to obscure but it tells a good story and some of the episodes are so fucking funny while some of them are actually meaningful and make you think about things. I think it's the perfect blend for an adult cartoon for people who are looking for something funny as hell but can also make you think. And another thing, most people only really know about the pickle Rick episode. I don't know why that's the most popular episode but there is a specific reason behind him turning himself into a pickle. There are much better episodes than that one though so I would really recommend checking it out. If you have Hulu the entire series is on there But if not it comes on every week night at midnight. it would just be a little easier to follow if you watched it in chronological order though.

I think they have it on Hulu so I might check it out on there.
I wish I could watch Courage the Cowardly Dog again. :-( |
I love how some of the episodes were obvious references to old horror movies.
The Katz Motel was obviously a reference to The Bates Motel from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho Freaky Fred was obviously a reference to Sweeney Todd The Demon in the Mattress was obviously a reference to The Exorcist Everyone Wants To Direct was obviously a reference to Night of the Living Dead (the zombie film director even looked like George A. Romero) 1000 Years of Courage was obviously a reference to Planet of the Apes (with bananas ruling the world instead of monkeys) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dog was obviously a reference to those old kung-fu action movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon I could go on and on. ::smile:: |
