Demons or zombies?
 

I was just thinking about this because I came across an article where someone was comparing Ash Williams (Evil Dead) to Tallahassee (Zombieland), and I decided it's like comparing apples to oranges, Ash fights demons, which in my opinion, is far harder than fighting zombies (like Tallahassee)... So Ash would own him

If there was a war between zombies and demons, who would win? How could they co-exist in the same universe?

Obviously, if there was a war between zombies and demons I think everyone will agree that demons will win over zombies. Why? simply because zombies are mindless and quite slow but demons are known to be wise and quick.

Demons perform necromancy. They would obviously have power of the stupid rotting corpses.

I believe these creatures could co-exist. They have a common enemy, us, and the enemy of my enemy is my friend. ::danger::

Demons would probably control the zombies.

Alliances only last so long.

I tend to agree demons would romp all over zombies... Just thinking if there are any real advantages on the zombies' side, we already know demons have a bazillion advantages over zombies...

Dead Bad Things brought up a few minor (and largely circumstantial) advantages....

I tend to think the zombies would end up being controlled by the demons, some may even act as possession vessels for the demons.

Zombies won't be laying out circles of salt or doing anything else to battle the demons. They'll be wandering mindlessly. Because they're Zombies.
Demons win this one easily. I doubt the battle lasts a week.

Demons need lotsa worship and patronization thru ceremony to even get on/into our plane of existence, and just to maintain power.

Zombies on other hand...don't need none of that, one bites all it takes, an infection starts......
Mass consumption of humans brains begins to have cognitive side effects.....and in large masses zombies can begin to form a hierarchy...

Further more Zombies like Rock'n'Roll will never die !

This argument isn't valid, DBT. Using this formula we could say Zombies need death and resurrection before they become dangerous. The war is happening so therefore both sides already are here, on this plane and ready to do battle.

although demons possessed Ash's dead GF... but then again, she was possessed before he killed it, so it really was never dead and souless...

I'm pretty sure demons can possess whatever or whomever they wish, generally. Unless that person or object has some sort of magical protection from demons. But yeah, they have even been known to possess inanimate objects if I am not mistaken. One could argue that perhaps Christine (Steven King's killer fem fatale cadillac), perhaps the car was possessed by a demon. And as someone else pointed out, Ash 's dead girlfriend was possessed.

How's a demon just gonna up and posses somethin' under it own free will?.... Without a invitational ceremony or ritual of some kind bein' done first?

Well, Sculpt pointed out that she was possessed while still alive.

Invocation seems like all it takes.....invitation maybe not so much..

Zombies have one simple directive and motivation.......Demons are hell bent..so to say..on destruction for various vices, sins, and other malicious endeavors.
They also require certain metaphysical elements to achieve manifestation.

On the other hand....conditions for a zombie outbreak are practically ideal.....whether transmission is spread one bite at a time, or thru mass outbreak.

This are just a few of the ingredients insuring victory for the undead!

I agree with DBT. You can at least reason and have a dialogue with a demon.

But...they are at war with Zombies. What Z is going to sit down and reason with a demon? Are we to assume the Zombies have a Non-Z ambassador, negotiating ceasefires with demons?

Zombies aren't conscious enough to know how to perform necromancy. Even for conscious living people, it's not something that someone could just pick up on the fly, it takes years and practice.

But you do make a fair enough point that for humans, zombies could be a comparable threat to demons.

I said HUMANS learn from the demons. Not zombies from demons. And I don't think a demon would be STUPID enough to let a mindless zombie kill it especially if the demon has most of the following characteristics; has big hands, large claws, wings, horns, bigass weird jacked up sword, and huge romper stomper hooves.

....OK....OK....I got it.....Yer thinkin' some Marvel/DC Comics style demons....

No not really. That's just how I usually picture demons. It's true, necromancy is a very demonic art, but thanks to my kind we have stamped out the knowledge of the power of necromancy. It's returning though unfortunately. But soon it will be stamped out completely.

You can't never gonna get rid of those ancient arts yo. Never!
