Deathgasm

There was another thread at another time on this one, but it just released on Netflix and this thing deserves so much attention.

Fantastic film, hits just about everything we could possibly want from a gory horror movie. Fantastic soundtrack, great practical effects, great story, great script. I highly recommend it.

The previous topic was mine :P
2015 movie of the year and already a classic imo. Just great, bloody fun!
Even better if you appreciate or have some knowledge of metal music.

There's already a script for a sequel, which is supposed to be even bloodier, but there were (are?) some practical problems so they haven't started production yet.

Tweet from the writer/director:
"So I just finished this. There is literally more gore in the first 10 minutes than the entire first #deathgasm. If you kinda liked the first, this will make your head implode. If you thought the first 'Deathgasm' was puerile, juvenile and dumb then 'Goremageddon' will melt your face off and force you to barricade yourself inside, safe with some Terrance Malik and Coldplay."

Thumb resize.

Besides Deathgasm, New Zealand/Australia has been releasing some good stuff over the last couple of years: Fresh Meat, Housebound, What We Do In The Shadows, These Final Hours, The Dead Lands, Wolf Creek 2,...
All better than average, some quite original, so kudos to down under!

Much agreed, I love Housebound. I hear its a lot cheaper to make movies in Australia than the US. Canada too, that's why they are filming IT in Canada.

Wyrmwood.
That's another one. I knew I forgot something.

ChronoGrl 08-08-2016 08:38 AM

Oh, man. Wyrmwood was great. Prefer it to Deathgasm, but that's not an insult to Deathgasm (I just loved Wyrmwood so much - Probably connected with it more because it had a strong female character).

And, yeah, I recommend Deathgasm, especially if you're a fan of Evil Dead and Todd and the Book of Pure Evil.

Both fun movies, definitely.

Sequel's already announced, release date isn't.
Might take a while. Just read on Imdb it took 4 years to make the first one because they only worked on weekends.

Deathgasm is quality.

It reminded me a little of Braindead (Dead Alive)

Watched this flick two, three weeks ago. It's brillant ! But it's even better if you understand the hints on metal music :D
