Best Horror of 2015?

Make your award choice now, for the most horrifying film of 2015.

Do you think 2015 was a good, bad, or mediocre year for horror?

horcrux2007 12-28-2015 03:51 PM

Mine is fairly obvious if you look at my signature. As much as I adored It Follows, I have to give the edge to Unfriended for its unique format and scare factor. Definitely an unpopular opinion but ya know.

Angra 12-28-2015 04:13 PM

I think it was an above average horror year.

Bone Tomahawk for me with The Visit coming in close second.

yarryneil 12-28-2015 06:09 PM

For 2015, I choose :

I voted for other. My pick is Felt.

It has conflicting release dates but I'm pretty sure it was 2015. September 2014 was a festival date, i think.

DeadbeatAtDawn 12-29-2015 02:08 PM

Other.

Headless

Well, it looks like there was no consensus favorite this year. Quite dispersed. After all the praise given Crimson Peak in October kinda surprised to see zero votes. Sad really.

SerialKiller 12-29-2015 11:10 PM

It Follows, after giving it a second watch last week. This year was pretty good, could have done without The Gallows though.

Crimson Peak was definitely a highlight this year, but when we get one choice...

Now that I think of it, CP would be my third pick, after Felt and We Are Still Here. All things considered, a fine year for Horror, imho. ::devil::

I loved Felt! I honestly didn't think anyone else would have it in their top 5.

Just heard of Felt now. The description is right up my alley.

Interesting critic reviews on RottenT. The displayed reviews roughly have 90% men neg & 90% women positive.

The negs mention the lack of narrative & plot conclusion. The positives admire the creativity, illustration, emotion & impact.

Love to read your review, Rep'd. And Roiffalo might have a unique perspective as a visual artist.

The trailer does make the movie look a lot more interesting than the summary on IMDB does. May have to check it out sometime.

Great movie, right Face? It really stuck with me weeks after watching.

Yeah, guys, give this one a look. It's not the type of horror I can recommend and assure you that you'll like it, but in my opinion it's a worthwhile watch to say the least.

Sculpt mentioned the disparity in men vs women as far as ratings for this movie are concerned. Upon consideration of a scene or two, I'm not surprised to hear that, but I'm really disappointed. I would hope the themes explored would have touched a few more of the fellas the way it did me.

The highest compliment I can give anything on this planet is to say it resonates with me. As I said, I was thinking seriously about Felt for quite a while after I saw it. I'm not as skilled a reviewer as many of you here, but I would love for ANY of you to give Felt a chance. It's not uplifting and it's not shy about it's message, but I for one loved what it had to say.

Need more votes for Best Horror of 2015

Giganticface 01-12-2016 10:59 AM

I voted for It Follows. I'm also working on my ranked list of 2015 horror films. I wonder if I should post that in this thread, in a new thread, or in another existing thread.

hammerfan 01-12-2016 11:07 AM

I can't vote because I haven't seen all of them

Then vote because you've seen some of them.

There's an existing thread under "contemporary movies".

Thanks Angra. Are you referring to the "Your 10 favorite horror and non-horror movies of the year?" thread in Latest Horror Movies? That seems like a good place (although my list is more like 102 films).

Voted other.
My favorite was Deathgasm.

This was my choice. Great movie and one where the ending makes you rethink everything you saw the preceding 90 minutes. I like those.

It kinds feels too little too late (or in my case, too much too late), but I posted my rankings in that thread.

It's never too late.

Who knows, you might have inspired others to post their top 10s as well.

You others, you know who you are. ::mad::
