Stung 2015
I believe this is being shown in independent movie theaters. It looks like they're trying too hard, but it could be fun. I think Repo'd might enjoy it.
|
Oh hell yeah, count me in! It looks over completely over the top. I see Lance Henriksen and a few other pretty talented folks in the mix too. Yep, it's my cup of tea, Boss, thanks.

I see the title and what looks like a HUGE FUCKING WASP in the preview image of the video and instantly decide 'nope'. ::smile::

Stung is not a good movie, but that’s not the problem. The problem is that it’s trying to be. I would be able to forgive the movie for being cheesy and terrible if it didn’t seem to want to be a better movie, but Stung takes itself far too seriously for a movie about giant killer wasps.
The film follows Julia (newcomer Jessica Cook) and Paul (Matt O’Leary, Sorority Row), two caterers who are on their way to work a job that will make or break their business. Their clients are Sydney Perch (Clifton Collins Jr.) and his mother, who are both a bit on the loopy side. Among the high profile guests at their event is the town mayor (Lance Henriksen, looking incredibly bored), who proves to be a useful member among the group of survivors following the initial wasp attack. From there the film follows the few survivors of the initial attack as they try to escape the house they’ve barricaded themselves in. |

I might be more inclined to Jessica's opinion. I'll probably eventually see it. But with lower expectations. If only movies of this sort could be as good as Slither.

Insects are great material for horror movies because most of them are monsters already. Only need to supersize them.
Anyone seen Infestation? I think that one was pretty good. Arac Attack/Eight Legged freaks was good too. Technically not insects but still creepy crawlers. Or Starship Troopers (I love that movie). They were alien but still insects. And for those who've seen Zombeavers "the ending when the bee goes to infected blood: Zombees" Not sure if that would work, but could be interesting. |

Which reminds me, anyone see Giant Spider Invasion? If you love the "so bad its good " movies, its a winner. The Deadly Mantis is another favorite. Some hilarious dialogue in that one. |
i always feel there is something slightly joyless about those who refuse to enjoy these sort of movies.
repo'd, crap, crap, how very dare you! The fact that it wants to be serious may slightly lower my overall feelings for it. Has anyone seen 'Spiders' 2013. it is pretty good and definitely a lot better than the low ratings it received. I can also DEFINITELY recommend 'big ass spider' (2013) not only is it good it's also very funny as well, and generally full of greatness I love Baron's suggestion of the film 'zombees', i demand it be made! It also needs a great tag line for it, Something akin to 'bee afraid, bee very afraid' |

Serious? Come on. If you mean serious by having awesome looking wasps and gooey gore effects, okay. This was goofy as fuck from the old lady, to the grandson, to the mayor. I thought the catering couple had some nice chemistry. I really enjoyed this. Badass.
Lance. ::love:: |

Movie itself was too much about the couple. Should've been about a group of survivors taking a stand against the waps instead of just trying to survive. The group would include some (former) marine, a jock/steroid type, a redneck (the movie was set in the country), a biker/rock dude with a shirt from the band W.A.S.P. and more. Party also should have been bigger. And at least one scene/kill with a flamethrower. |
Always been sucker of Giant bug/insects movie. So I enjoyed it too. ::cool::

This is serious as a mother fucker...whoa ::wink:: |
mmm. Average to, at best, good. Too much time was spent on a boring relationship with a girl who didn't deserve the attention she was shown. There weren't enough decent and varied kills, and the copy of the film i saw had to many scenes with poor lighting in them. Something which really ruins a movie for me. The characters were also pretty humourless and staid, effects were pretty good but the ending was pretty poor. Overall worth a watch but not a keeper
