Good evening, all

Hello. I'm just an average dollmaker, with an interest in horror. Some of my favourite films include The Woman, Martyrs, and The Woman in Black. I know they are all fairly recent, but they are some of the best movies I have ever seen. Anyway, it is good to meet you all.

That is indeed one of my dolls in my avatar. I was playing around, thinking about trying to put together an art show. I do sell them on Etsy. Fortunately for you, my dolls are made with crochet, which is probably less scary than, say, porcelain. However, at this moment I am surrounded by eight BJDs and a bunch of crocheted dolls that I have made.

Thank you! I was saving this guy for a potential art show, but since that is so very hypothetical at the moment, I went ahead and listed him on my Etsy store. There is some of my other work in there as well on clearance as I rework my vision. I have been focusing on my decidedly not horrific Gossamer Girl dolls lately, out of hope that they would sell better.

Anyway, this guy is listed here. Thanks so much for your interest!

I bet your goth dolls would sell through the roof. There is a real market for them right now. All you need is some good marketing behind your creations.

You have convinced me. The next few things I make shall be goth/horror creatures. (I didn't need too much convincing. I've been doing not horror because I thought they'd sell better. I see I may be wrong.) The marketing, though, is the hard part for me. Thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words. And for posting Chalice. He is still one of my favourites. I should make some more like him.

Welcome! I'm new myself. I've only been here a couple days, but so far this forum seems really cool. I think you'll like it.

The Walking Dread 08-15-2012 04:01 PM

Let me know when you get some cool goth dolls created. I'd like to see them. :)
Do you make special custom dolls for people?

I do. My Gossamer Girl dolls were designed to be custom, OOAK items. I would be happy to adapt the design to something more horrific. Also, if I can brag a little, I think they are just great dolls. Durable and cuddly and they can wear American Girl clothing, of which there is a lot available. They are kind of my take on the BJD. Or if you wanted something different, we could talk about it and work something out.

To return to the topic of the board somewhat, do any of you listen to Drabblecast? The produced an audio copy of my favourite doll-themed horror story ever.

It is called "Funeral Song for a Ventriloquist." It is one of the best short stories I've heard.
