First Horror Movie You Seen?

Probably been done but couldn't find any thread the same from a search.

So yeah what was the first horror movie you seen ?.

My first was A Nightmare On Elm Street when i was about 4, i was hooked ever since then as a horror movie fan. I remember seeing Just Before Dawn not long after and telling everyone in school about the "chopper man" lol.

around 91 or 92 a nightmare on elm street sure it was not the first but first i remember

Elvis_Christ 07-26-2012 09:32 PM

Fright Night

Atraxi 07-26-2012 10:57 PM

I don't remember exactly, of course, but I think it was Child's Play.

realdealblues 07-27-2012 05:28 AM

I don't really remember exactly...probably Jaws.

I do remember seeing Rawhead Rex when it came out on VHS when I was 6 or 7. My mom kept saying, "You can't let him watch that, it will give him nightmares" and my older brother and my dad saying, "he'll be ok". Either way I did have a nightmare that night about Rex chasing me and it scared the shit out of me...lol. Been a fan ever since.

When I was a kid BBC2 used to do a horror double bill every friday night - the first was usually a Universal Flick or some other b/w film and the 2nd one was often a hammer or AIP film.

I always fell asleep during the 2nd film. So I remember some old Lon Chaney jr wolfman films etc.

This topic has been brought up before...but I can't find the thread.

anyway......The first horror movie that gave me nightmares was The Shuttered Room [1967].

also I had a mad crush on Carol Lynley when I was a wee lad.

Nat94 07-27-2012 08:30 AM

I was a major buffy fan but then I watched the excorsist at the age of 10, I know it's dated, but I was dissapointed.

donniedarko 07-27-2012 09:19 PM

The original When a Stranger Calls.
Along with 1408 the most underrated horror film ever

Bloodwolf13 07-27-2012 09:51 PM

First horror movie

My first real horror movie that I watched the whole thing was texas chainsaw massacre

Fearonsarms 07-28-2012 08:27 AM

I'm afraid I also can't remember but it was possibly The Amityville Horror or Amityville 2:The Possession.

The Villain 07-28-2012 08:30 AM

Bob Gray 07-29-2012 12:14 PM

I remember back when I was a kid in the 80's, they use to have a Universal monster movie marathon every Halloween, so my first horror movie was The Mummy.

I watched because ghost films normally scare me shitless because I get so into them and believe in that sorta thing, but the effects and that are so crap it's laughable.. Love Samuel L Jackson though..

wizard of gore 07-30-2012 12:10 AM

The original The Mummy is amazing. Great film to see as an introduction to horror. I'm dumping the remake which my sister bought me in the package if I get it-don't hurt yourselves in the rush to get it off me lol

Where I grew up (also back in the 80's), we could only get 4 or 5 television stations. Every Saturday at noon, one of them played "the afternoon creature feature". All they played were the old Universal Monsters, King Kong & Godzilla. Not a bad way to grow up at all :D

When I was in grade school (in the 60s), there was a show on Saturday afternoons on one of the local stations called "Dr. Shock". He played all the old B-movies. I don't remember the first horror movie I ever saw (I'm too old to remember that far back :D), but I remember my Saturday afternoons with Dr. Shock. And the local movie theater had Saturday afternoon matinees (50 cents) that usually showed horror movies. That's where I saw "Mark of the Devil".

I actually liked 1408 but saying it's the most underrated movie ever is a stretch
