My attendance has been sporadic for awhile, but I had, as of late, considered dropping in more often. I'm not going to stand by and watch some of you witchburning a friend of mine who has given a lot to this forum over the years for trying to share a recent accomplishment. I've shared a lot of time and energy and things with HDC and I'm going to miss seeing this place as an option. I'm going to have to formally announce my departure. You guys, you come onto a forum to discuss movies and other various topics. It's blowing it up to be more than it is, that fucks it up for you. Not everyone has the same opinions, there will be disagreements. I don't see any witch burning, but maybe that's because I don't come here that often anymore, and when I do, it's to talk about movies, games, tv shows, comics, to give and to soak up some suggestions. That's just what I do here. I'd suggest everyone does just that, not takes things personally when inevitable conflict arises, and just move forward. If it's that "serious" and stressful for you, I'd suggest spending more time following other pursuits. ***Having looked at what I believe to be the thread in question, I will say: Congrats on contributing to something that got printed, both of you authors. Double-standards apply in a lot of cases here, you can't expect to enforce "rules" OR call someone out on them when you yourself take part, or make exceptions of your own. I see fault going both ways. I also believe this animosity towards each other is long standing and boring...one waits to call the other out, one brings up troublemaking etc...so on and so on and so on. The fact this could fire up over a topic being put in the wrong area of the forum is stupid. Though, I have seen people get VERY snippy about this issue with newer members. This cannot be ignored. Having said that, bringing it up and pushing the issue in "public" somewhat takes away from the point you're trying to make, and turns it into spectacle. It's foolish. That's my bit. |
And all this started because I trimmed the quoted part of a post in the Last Seen Movie thread because the quoted part was unnecessarily big and all of it wasn't relevant to the reply being posted.
The reply itself was untouched. For the record, all replies posted anywhere are untouched. Only the quoted part of the posts had been trimmed so that posts stay relevant and short. If you see a message "Last edited by ___V___" in your post, it's just to shorten your quotes, NOT your replies. Today, many users out there use iPads, mobile phones, Blackberrys, etc. to surf the Net (I myself do this), so scrolling down long quoted posts becomes a real pain, specially when surfing charges are charged by the second/minute. But I guess you all prefer a forum without rules. I now see why zwoti, bloodrayne and Austin failed, even after trying to implement SOME rules for this place, which horror himself never gave. All I tried to do, was to make this forum presentable to the world. Deepest apologies if that came out as Stalin-ish or power-trippish or whatever else you folks in this part of the world refer it to. Sending the worksheet of the Top 100 Writers to fortunato, with a request that he compiles it into a presentable thread. And a request to any Moderator who's left out there, please make fortunato's thread a Sticky in the Books section. Good luck. |

Please clarify if I'm wrong but Is WFan now using NE's nick/account for the "mod job"? Why? Cause there's no sign of any Admin to officially make & declare her as a forum MOD and so NE permitted her to use his account & she accepted that? Pretty confusing & annoying shit! |

Just a bit of history for some of you who have only been here for a year or 2. Sistinas666 has been around for almost as long as me. He is most likely the most banned member HDC has had. Always trying to stir up shit. I actually thought he may have finally grown up....but alas....I was wrong. He finally managed to stir up a whole load of shit.......and we lost some of the best members thus far.
This forum will continue...we will get new members who contribute and some that last a day....it's the way of the interwebby. I will be facebooking some of the lost...so we can keep in touch. |
Can't people who stir the sewage, so to speak, be ignored. Sometimes, but not always I am sure, paying attention to them only encourages them to stir all the more vigorously.

Wow this whole thing really seems to have been blown out of proportion. Here's hoping that V, Doc and NE come back but it seems like they've had enough. I really like this forum and enjoy coming here so i hope it doesn't die.

To be honest I'm not happy with WickerFan being a mod. I think that account should be passed onto fortunato IMO (assuming he'd like the responsibility).
