Which horror film should I watch tomorrow night?

Here are my choices:
  • Event Horizon
    The Orphanage
    Mirrors
    The Happening

Which movie should I watch tomorrow night?

Thanks! :)

I highly recommend The Orphanage.

Do you think it is scarier than Event Horizon?

hammerfan 12-05-2011 10:50 AM

Definitely.

Not to be devil's advocate, but why? (Without giving it away.)

hammerfan 12-05-2011 11:22 AM

I think The Orphanage had a much creepier atmosphere than Event Horizon did.

How many stars out of 5 would you give it?

hammerfan 12-05-2011 11:28 AM

Five......

What was the scariest part of the film? The story? The visuals? The music?

hammerfan 12-05-2011 11:40 AM

All of it.

I was kind of thinking that. Sounds dumb.

I agree with The Orphanage. Creepy and an excellent movie.

fortunato 12-05-2011 04:10 PM

Scratch The Happening off your list, too. Go with The Orphanage.

are_you_sad 12-06-2011 04:39 AM

Thanks guys!!

The Happening isn't good?

ChronoGrl 12-06-2011 05:45 AM

The Happening was truly awful. Some really genuinely creepy scenes, but all used in the trailers, so don't expect anything more than that. Oh, and while I do like Mark Walberg, he was terrible... But that could have been the turgid writing and direction...

Straker 12-06-2011 07:09 AM

I would've gone with Event Horizon.

Sounds promising lol.

I like Mark Walberg as well.

Is there a twist in this one like other M. Night Shamalayn films?

You know now I myself is going back and forth. Not too much time to decide- I'm out of work at 5pm.

Event Horizon or The Orphanage?

Maybe I'll go with the shorter film, which I'm assuming is Event Horizon.

To be honest, I don't even remember - LOL - There was more of a "lame explanation" than twist. ;)

As for Event Horizon vs. The Orphanage, they're both good movies and entirely different genres...

I say start off with Event Horizon, get your dose of scifi horror and then finish off with the nice atmospheric Orphanage - A good solid ghost story to lull you to sleep.

I only have time for one of them tonight ;).

But, seriously, I think I'm leaning towards Event Horizon now. GOD this is a hard decision lol.

There's always time for another horror movie. ;)

Bit of a no brainer this question.

The Orphanage wins by a landslide.

Really? How so.

CRAP! I only have a little over an hour to make a decision!

Watch The Orphanage,

Why, you ask?

Because I said so.

ZombieDrone 12-06-2011 03:06 PM

The Orphanage is the only one of these films I've seen (I've not seen too much of this new-fangled stuff)

It's pretty good, although the credit sequence at the beginning is very cheesy. I wouldn't say it's too scary (although kudos to the fact that this film delivers it's share of atmosphere over cheap gore and effects)

I think of it more as a macabre horror-esque drama then a straight-up horror film. It's sort of similar to The Others in tone, which is another great modern horror film.

Well, I ended up watching Event Horizon. I rated it 2.5 stars out of 5. Not a great movie by any stretch although the scene where you see what happened to the previous crew with the demon orgy is SO SO SO scary!! I rewound it back just to see it again after the film was over.

The Orphanage will be the next movie I watch for sure! I just requested it at my local library.
