Exploitation Recommendations?

I've become quite interested in exploitation films recently. Ilsa She Wolf Of The SS and Caligula look really cool from what I've seen of them. What were the best films of this type? I don't mind the highest levels of violence, just as long as there's nothing real (I really can't stand non-simulated animal killings, for example).

Last House on the Left
I Spit On Your Grave

I'm sure Elvis & Ferox will each have a couple hundred recommendations...

That's what I'm hoping.:D

@Michael - Seen them both, liked them both.:)

TheWickerFan 10-17-2011 06:31 AM

I realized I should probably narrow the field somewhat.:o

I'd probably like to focus on the best of nazis, nuns, sex, and pink exploitation.

@Angra - Pink is Japanese sexploitation like Terrifying Girl's High School.

Fearonsarms 10-17-2011 12:59 PM

I'm not an expert on the genre but there has been a few good "Ozploitation" films recently:

Loved Ones
Storm Warning
The Horseman

The Zodiac Killer (1971)
Female Prisoner Scorpion trilogy
The Ghastly Ones

Not sure if it counts or what you're looking for but check out films by Herschel Gordon Lewis. Gloriously cheap and tacky, very camp, very fun, very gory.

You'd probably want to check out School Of The Holy Beast. It's a pretty nifty combo of the above (well minus the nazis). Not very well versed on nunsploitation so I'll leave someone else to fill in the gaps. But that one was a pretty good watch.

SS Hell Camp is the best nazi flick after Ilsa. It's more arthouse but you might dig The Night Porter. I don't know I've found the majority of flicks of from this genre pretty dull but there's a bunch I haven't seen so there's bound to be some gold out there.

fortunato mentioned the Female Prisoner Scorpion trilogy which I can't recommend enough. Fantastic stuff. Lady Snowblood is a great flick too along with Sex & Fury and Female Yakuza Tale. Got a bunch of pinky violence stuff I've yet to watch sitting here so I'll come back and recommend you anything I dig.

Star of David: Hunting for Beautiful Girls was really good. A bit fucked up for sure but a really good example of the subgenre i.e shocking imagery, story twists, plenty of subtext and of course vivid cinematography.

TheWickerFan 10-24-2011 03:28 PM

Thanks Elvis.:) I've been meaning to watch School Of The Holy Beast and some Teruo Ishii, but it's hard to get.

I think SS Hell Camp (if its the same as Beast in Heat) is pretty dull. Gestapos Last Orgy is prolly the best after Ilsa and it is kinda a rip off of Night Porter. SS Experiment camp isn't bad too...

Will have to check those out next time in the mood for a nazi flick.

I've seen these films & all are 'great fun' to watch; certainly highly recommendable to any new exploited fan of the genre.

Haven't seen Gestapo's Last Orgy but have somewhere in my collection, I guess. And there is another one...Love Camp#7, which I kinda liked also.

Like fortunato, I like to also recommend Female Prisoner Scorpion trilogy & Lady Snowblood films...awesome movies.

Downloaded Coffy & Flavia the Heretic months ago, hope to see them soon.

Though I haven't seen much but I don't mind to watch Russ Meyers films. Specially I highly enjoyed Faster, Pussycat! & Vixen!...oh, love to see those 60's & 70's women with giant boobs! :D
