The "Evil Dead" remake
Has anyone else heard about this Evil Dead remake they are working on? Any info? Should be interesting...
|
I hope it doesn't go through. That's a movie that shouldn't be screwed with.
|
well the first movie is weird and dull but, number 2 was fun so a remake could be at least interesting!

Evil Dead remake
As far as I can tell a remake could only be a disappointment, but at the same time I would feel completely compelled to see it just out of curiosity. The original is actually my favourite from the series so far. The musical is a lot of fun too.
|
HI,I DONT WANT IT REMADE,nor do i want evil dead 4. apparently part 4 may be on the cards after spider man 4? anybody else heard this?
|
Both Raimi & Campbell have said there will not be an Evil Dead 4. I would think they would know.
|
I'd much rather there be a sequel then remake.
|
I could deal with an Evil Dead 4, I guess. At least if they ruin it, it doesn't mar the original.
I agree that the original should not be touched. There is no way a re-make of the original will capture the feel and uniqueness Evil Dead brings. Plus, Bruce Campbell as Ash is untouchable. |

Yeah. Sad but true.
|
I heard that the remake was canceled a way ways back and then they wanted to work on Evil Dead 4, hmm weird
But I have to agree, remake = bad idea. I love all three evil dead films and think a fourth one would be a fun idea. |

You've never seen Army Of Darkness? Come on, everyone has seen that at some time. Not so much Evil Dead 3, but along those lines.

"Evil Dead" remake is official!
Official: Ghost House Pictures Remaking The Evil Dead
Source: Ghost House Pictures July 13, 2011 Sam Raimi and original producing partners Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell (who also starred in the original franchise) are gearing up to remake their cult sensation The Evil Dead through their long standing Ghost House Pictures partnership. Raimi and Tapert were such instant fans of Fede Alvarez's short film "Panic Attack" that they set up a blind deal with the filmmaker and through that process have attached Fede Alvarez to write and direct the film. Alvarez wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody is currently doing revisions on the draft. Ghost House is committed to renewing the franchise and has the film on the fast track. Raimi, Tapert and Campbell will serve as producers. Ghost House Pictures partners Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will executive produce. Nicole Brown and J.R. Young will oversee the project for Ghost House. Lionsgate will handle international sales on the film. The three producing partners commented, "We are committed to making this movie and are inspired by the enduring popularity and enthusiasm for the 'Evil Dead' series. We can't wait to scare a new generation of moviegoers using filmmaking techniques that were not available to us thirty years ago as well as Fede bringing a fresh eye to the film’s original elements." Raimi wrote, directed and, along with Tapert and Campbell, produced the original horror classic The Evil Dead that tells the story of five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead. An archaeologist's tape recording reveals that the ancient text was discovered among the Khandarian ruins of a Sumerian civilization. Playing the taped incantations, the youths unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. The Evil Dead spawned a franchise with the equally successful installments Evil Dead II and Army of Darknes Read more: Official: Ghost House Pictures Remaking The Evil Dead - ComingSoon.net http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movie...#ixzz1S21n8B3k |
This could be good as long as they don't over do the CGI.
|
What is the point of this? If i want to watch Evil Dead, i'll watch Evil Dead. I don't need to see a remake of a great movie. How about remaking terrible movies and fixing the problems with those instead of trying to improve on a movie that doesn't need improvement.
|
evil dead 3 was pants but 1 and 2 was good.does anyone know if Sam Raimi will be doing the remake.
|
Ya CANNOT remake that movie.
It would feel like a whole different movie. The movie is too special to remake. |

It'll be good or I won't watch it a second time.

Wasn't evil dead 2 effectively a remake of the first? In the UK the original film was targetted to be the representative of the video nasties by the censors-and I had been told by an ex that evil dead 2 was done to please the censors. So is this another remake of a remake?

Ick...Diablo Cody. A remake was inevitable eventually, not too surprised...but Diablo Cody on something like this could be pretty painful. Loved Juno, but Jennifer's Body was absolutely horrendous. I feel like she'd just turn this into Jennifer's Body Part 2....

It did come off like a remake but it was a sequel. That beginning part was supposed to be a re-cap. Sam Raimi actually lost the rights to the first movie and had to basically re-shoot the beginning to add the recap, hence the confusion.

That would make sense cheers.

It’s hard to believe that after so much chatter and so many promises, the remake of “The Evil Dead” is actually happening.
Indeed, the project is set up at Sam Raimi‘s Ghost House Pictures, with on-the-rise director Fede Alvarez (“Panic Attack!”) at the helm with none other than Oscar winning screenwriter Diablo Cody doing some final touchups on the script. This won’t quite be the ‘Evil Dead’ we all know and love, rather, something promisingly different, but there will be one very, very familiar chin popping up in what is a pretty no-brainer cameo. In an interview with Spanish paper El Pais (via Dread Central) director Alvarez hints the cast will be made of unknowns…well, except for one guy. “Because we are fans of the original, we realize that nobody wants to see a celebrity in a remake like this,” he said. “The only recognizable face will be that of Bruce Campbell, and he will be in a cameo toward the end of the film. We are going to change the characters and some story details, while keeping the basic outline of friends who are beleaguered by demons in a cabin alone.” Now before some of the spoiler babies start crying, let’s not pretend that everyone pretty much expected this to happen. With Campbell forever talking about this movie, it was inevitable he would be part of it in some way. However, it’ll be interesting to see what approach Alvarez takes with the material as he reveals, “Sam Raimi says there’s a fine line between horror and comedy. The original ‘Evil Dead’ was intended as a ‘straight horror’ movie with scenes of extreme gore directly designed to shock the viewer. I rented the movie with a friend from a video store at just thirteen years old, and that was a big mistake! The film scared the life out of us.” “We realize the mistakes not to make,” Alvarez also said. “As fans of the original, we know we are going to offend those who are also fans just by taking this job. We’re going to honor the original film along with the existing fans and hope to bring in a new audience as well.” So does honoring the original film mean going for a much more traditional horror pic interjected with laughs? With Cody writing, we presume that will be the case. There’s no word if Campbell will reprise his role as Ash or if he’ll play another character altogether, but let’s hope it’s the former. It would actually be kind of interesting for some kind of parallel story or prequel to play out before the events of the first film. Production begins soon and we guess we can look for this next Halloween. |
Fans have spent countless hours debating what they'd want to see in The Evil Dead, the reboot of Sam Raimi's classic cabin in the woods indie from 1981. The only thing that would be "cool" is for the entire film to take place in S-Mart, with Ash passing the torch to some new smart ass.
Unfortunately, Ash (played by Bruce Campbell in the franchise) won't even make a cameo. Campbell, already confirmed for a cameo, took to Twitter where he crushed fan's hopes and dreams dispelled any notion of Ash returning. "Who are they casting for Ash?" asked a fan. Campbell replied: "No Ash character currently," further stating, "Twitter fails when info gets fragmented. Last statement: ED remake is a re-telling. All bets are off & all involved love the new approach." It sounds like they really, really, really mean their going to re-tell the story. Fede Alvarez (Federico Alvarez) directs from a screenplay co-developed with Diablo Cody. |
New evil dead reboot!!!
This is my website's video I made today concerning the recently released plot details (although minor) of this reboot...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L3ZNuheEPk What do you guys think about this flick? The original is so beloved to me, I'd hate for Hollywood to cut my childhood deep with this one. I just got done watching a vid just now from the Chicago Comic Con with the original Evil Dead cast and Bruce Campbell actually made me feel a just A TAD better when he went into explanation about it... I guess it's gonna happen whether someone likes it or not.. So here goes. |
Sorry but I am boycotting your video much as I will boycott an Evil Dead "reboot".
