The Top 100 Films of the 2000s

...as selected by Squidoo.

http://www.squidoo.com/top100filmsofthenoughties

Scroll down and enjoy.

Once again, the order looks a bit topsy-turvy but overall I think it's a pretty good selection. Except a few, as is usual with such sorts of lists.

Horror entries? Plenty.

Hellboy 2 at #91,
Coraline at #88,
Oldboy at #81,
The Devil's Backbone at #74,
Zombieland at #65,
Cloverfield at #63,
Antichrist at #59,
Pan's Labyrinth at #55,
Donnie Darko at #53,
The Mist at #48,
Dog Soldiers at #47,
The Machinist at #45,
Funny Games US at #42,
Dawn of the Dead at #39,
Eden Lake at #31,
Haute Tension at #30,
Shaun of the Dead at #15,
28 Days Later at #12,
Battle Royale at #10,
The Descent at #08.

...and the top film of the decade is also a horror film. Which one? See for yourself.

TheWickerFan 09-15-2010 03:04 AM

I give it 26 out of 100.

Agree with both of those, very strongly. Surprised that neither are on the list.

I think that it's a pretty good list overall, though.

I mean - Holy SHIT! Sympathy for Lady Vengeance is on there!!!!!! :) :) :)

...

But Superbad, really? really?

And a HUGE WTF for:
Wanted
The Day After Tomorrow
King Kong (sorry Ferox)
United 93
Eden Lake
Spiderman 2
8 Mile - ?!
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Superbad really did take the younger generation I'm affiliated with by storm, I loved it. Perhaps you're getting too old to understand...:p

But the rest of those you're dead right on. Also personally felt that if they had to include it, the Dawn of the Dead remake should have been closer to 100.

Kicking myself that I still haven't seen number 1.

One thing I heavily disagree with is putting Borat in front of Inglorious Basterds (if on the list at all). Other than that I have to pretty much agree with everyone else (though I would have liked to have seen The Departed make the list).

I might be alone in this, I didn't really like The Descent much alone think it deserved to be 8. Maybe I just need to see it again, but I really didn't enjoy the movie all that much.

The Mothman 09-15-2010 12:59 PM

good god the day after tomorrow is on that list.

These three in particular stand out. Yes, the Dark Knight is a bit blown out of proportion but these DEFINITELY deserve places over half the stuff on there.

True. That was one of the first movies that ever made me feel old.

DAMN YOU Greg Mottola!!!!!!!!!!!

...

I have to appreciate the breadth of the films he has listed... I saw Fish Bowl a while ago and absolutely loved it. Fantastic indie character piece.

Elvis_Christ 09-15-2010 07:40 PM

Superbad was amusing enough. Wouldn't run out and buy it or anything.

I thought Adventureland was all kinds of brilliant however (and I think I'm one of the few in that regard).

I totally agree with The Departed comment but disagree with you opinion on Borat. I thought the movie was not only funny but also brilliant.

41 Out Of The Blue (2006)

Impressed to see this indie film on the list. They're right- it deserves a larger audience.

And please- learn to use an apostrophe!

I wouldn't have it in the top 50

I personally wouldn't call that one an indie film. Those guys had quite a bit of money behind them for that and NZ Film Commission funding. But yeh I get ya that it's not a trillion dollar Hollywood flick.

Very good film for sure nice to see it make the list.

I agree with you, I didn't like The Descent much either.
