What would you

...talk about, if you were actually wanting to be involved in a conversation here, right now?

That's what I was just thinking before...came in, noticed there's not a lot of activity right now and thought my process here is to come in, look at the "usual" threads I go into/follow, post if I've got something to say and unless something otherwise catches my eye I don't really browse or hang about all that much.
So yeah...just feeling a little bored this evening, or, this morning anyways as it's now 2:47am as I'm writing this...I'm also writing an email right now but it's a fairly lengthy one so I'm taking breaks here and there.
I just vapourised a little, and had a slice of leftover vegitarian pizza hut pizza.
I don't usually go to pizza hut as I think that honestly, they charge too much for (at least here) a pretty shitty product.
Though this time, there were coupons in play and we wanted something effortless so there it is. Ate most of it at a park.
I myself ordered one with beef, jalapenos, and pineapple...that one went pretty quick between myself, my chick and my friend.
So I'm here trying to get myself tired by writing, as I'm having some trouble sleeping...grabbed the aforementioned slice and put some tzatziki I made over it. I made the tzatziki for some lamb burgers with mixed beansprouts the other night...there's ALWAYS leftovers.
That's why I here.

I'm thinking, we don't get the chance to actually just shoot the shit all that much...I mean there's a little banter here and there but not a whole lot. I'm not sure but I don't think I'm the only one here who occasionally cruises into hdc and wouldn't mind just talking about whatever.

So there it is. Post in it if you like. Where's your head at right now?

I have that fuckin' unicorn song stuck in my head...

I used to be a big fan of Pizza Hut but I always feel there isn't enough cheese...The turkish shop near me make a great Pizza, even if there are cockroaches there.

Straker 03-08-2010 08:20 AM

All this talk of food has got me thinking I should order a curry tonight. I usually order Chicken or Lamb Madras, but I'm thinking about a Chicken Balti right now. I would usually go pick it up from town, but there's road works down there at the moment and I don't really want the hassel. Problem is if I get them to deliver it'll take all night to arrive. They always seem to get the order wrong whenever they deliver too, but if you go down and pick it up its always right... Don't get it, should be the same chance either way, right? Think I'll just get it delivered and run the risk though.

Also, I have no work on this week. Life is good.

neverending 03-08-2010 08:23 AM

I don't like pineapple on pizza.

newb 03-08-2010 10:08 AM

My son's girlfriend made a chicken alfredo pizza the other night...wasn't sure if I would like it.....loved it.

Chicken Breast, cooked & cut into bite sized pieces
2 Pizza Crusts
1 cup prepared Alfredo sauce
1/2 cup of bacon bits
1/4 – 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Place two oven racks in bottom half of oven. Place crusts on baking sheets or round pizza pans.

Spread 1/2 cup Alfredo sauce over each pizza crust. Sprinkle each with 1/4 Cup of bacon bits. Layer chicken on top of that and sprinkle with black pepper. Top with grated Parmesan.

Bake 15 to 20 minutes, or until cheese bubbles and begins to brown. Rotate pizzas on oven racks halfway through baking, if necessary, to ensure even browning.

cockroach pizza....yummy

crabapple 03-08-2010 11:23 AM

I used to make these pizza things. They were a slice of bread and then on top of that, a weird mix of mayonnaise and grated parmesan cheese and then you throw some chopped pepperoni on top of that and cook it a while in a toaster oven. Sounds weird but it works!

When the cockroaches approach the pizza with interest, say, "What's that behind you?" and when they turn around to look, you WHAP! hit 'em with the old shoe.

looooooooooooooooooooove Hawaiian pizza.

I always thought that Pizza Hut was pretty good, though my boyfriend hates it.

In terms of chains, I actually really like Papa John's (it comes with garlic BUTTER sauce... You take PIZZA and you dip it in BUTTER - HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG?!), but unfortunately the only pizza place around me that delivers is Papa Gino's... It's not BAD, per se, but it's not GOOD either.

There's a local pizza place the next town over that's fantaaaaaaaaaaaastic.

And now I want pizza.

scouse mac 03-08-2010 03:19 PM

Pizza Hut do some really nice uber thin crust pizzas, called alfredo or some shit. As for best topping, its got be either pepperoni of spicy mexicana. Lovely stuff

On a complete change of subject, we're getting some chickens. Been busy clearing and building an enclosure, my father-in-law is real handy and is building a hen house. We don't even eat that many eggs but soon we're going to be swimming in the things.

novakru 03-08-2010 04:06 PM

pizza hut pizza is defintely different now-the crust tastes different

chickens

note to self: ever visit the UK, go right PAST scouses house

Neighbors had chickens back in the day, remembered how nasty and loud they were, shat on everything-stench when the wind blew...gawdalmighty

My granny used to have them too but all remember from that was the way she broke the necks to kill them *shudder*

Saw a chikcen coop at the historic house thingy and it was built back in 1700...very cool except even after all those 100's of years-still smelled like nasty chickens

Note to self: stop eating chicken.....and eggs too

horrorsniped 03-08-2010 05:32 PM

Love Pizza Hut! Although you feel fat after you eat a meal, the satisfaction from a bite of their pizza is fantastic!

milktoaste 03-08-2010 07:08 PM

For fucks sake people you gotta start making your pizzas at home. Buy two of the 'just add water' dough packages from your local store and add whatever fresh toppings you like. Don't get all cheep on yourself either, you can splurge on the $2.00 packages and still save a ton of money, and then follow the instructions on the package. Pizza Hut can sprinkle all the salt and bullshit they want on their dough, it's still going to suck in comparison to your own home-made origianl, I give you the milktoaste gaurantee:D

I just finished reading a book that was not only informative to a shitty writer like myself, but also made me laugh and cry-well, almost cry, I am a big tough man y'know. Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird, I recomend it to any body whose interested in writing, or anyone whose life sucks and may just need a fresh perspective. I sure appreciated it.

Hi Scouse!

Totally love homemade pizza. Made the bf and I a cheese pizza with fresh mozza, and goat cheese, with basil. So so good, and made me feel way better than buying Little Ceasars or something.

Now we're talking. You really got to add those seasonings, there's a local store that mixes seasonings and sells them in basically a ziplock bag for cheep, freaking awesome when you sprinkle some real herbs on real food, too bad more people don't do that anymore in the states.

Well I started an herb garden in he summer. I'm all about fresh herbs because the dried stuff tastes like nothing to me. I'm gonna need to buy some small potted ones to bring with me when I move in the spring.

milktoaste 03-08-2010 08:22 PM

I've only had success with illegal gardens myself, though they could still be classified as herbs I guess. Don't know how well they travel. The wife and I maybe packing up the kids after I get my Associates, and moving to North Carolina, over a year into the future still(if all goes well). Where you planning on moving Miss M.?

P.S. I neither grow nor smoke anymore, if it makes a difference.

Just to the next town over. I need the fuck out of my parents house. Plus there are more jobs in the retail/foodstuffs department than in my town so I can work while I finish up some online schooling. It's gonna be my boyfriend, my best friend since kindergarten, his girlfriend and me, all in a 2 bedroom apartment. It's gorgeous though. Overlooks the canal, so I won't feel so homesick or anything and has a huge kitchen and livingroom. Building even has a gym.

milktoaste 03-08-2010 08:42 PM

My first apartment away from home was a single bedroom above a bar that wouldn't let me through the front door because they knew I was only 18. If I ran my hot plate and my sterio at the same time it would blow the circuit. Sounds like you're going to have a great time though, just don't let it get to your head, or, your friends heads. Alot can go wrong in that type of situation if you let it is all I'm sayin'. I wish you all adventure.

I'm thinking sorry I've been AWOL.....been working at a jobsite in Connecticut. You may have heard about it in the news: a month ago there was an explosion here, the Kleen Energy plant in Middletown, CT. Still working at the jobsite, and have had zero time to pop in here. Hope you're all doing well!! A few of you I've seen on Facebook, so I know how you're doing.....:D

I made some homemade Florentine Mac'n'Cheese with meatballs tonight. The meatballs were not fresh like the rest of it, but it was pretty good.

Sounds like my first pad away from home... hope it works out better than mine did ;)

neverending 03-09-2010 11:31 PM

Four people in a two bedroom would be way too crowded for me, but good luck.

Elvis_Christ 03-09-2010 11:41 PM

Living with other people in general gets to crowded :D

Haha, you guys have like...dough helper?
But yeah making your own is infinitely better/WAY more cost effective...not to mention you can put whatever the fuck on a pizza.

I just wanna throw out there that it's just turned the date (here) of myself and my chicks anniversary. Just entered our 12th year.

Also, just updated my First Aid certification.

Yeah, I think Betty Crocker makes one, and Jiffy too. The closest store to me carries 4 or 5 different brands.

that's my daily hell, wife & two kids, all four of us in a two-bedroom apt...and I work from home, so I quite often suffer from claustrophobia. It sucks not being able to relax in my own "home."

Amen to that. My local grocery store sells balls of pizza dough for a dollar. You can get two eight inch pizzas out of that. It's taken me several tries not to make what basically amounts to mozzarella biscuits, but it's still worth it.

Make your ownn dough. It's easy. I've been doing it for the family every Friday night for the past 10 years.

one thick crust or two really thin (the way I like 'em)
combine 2 cups all purpose flour and a fat pinch of salt in large mixing bowl.

pour one package of rapid rise yeast into 2/3 cups of hot tap water and stir in a fat pinch of sugar.

When the water/yeast mixture starts to foam up, add it to the flour/salt mixture and pour in 2-3 tbsp. olive oil.

knead until the texture becomes satin-y. If it is sticky, add more flour.

Allow to rise for at least an hour... that when you pre-heat your pizza stone to 450 degrees.

Roll out (or stretch by hand) the dough and place on a cornmeal covered peel (the wooden paddle-thing) and tops as you please. slide onto the pre-heated stone and cook for 12 minutes.

Poke a generous amount of holes in your dough(with a fork) after you role it out on your pan, then bake the crust by itself for like five minutes, take it out then add your toppings and put it back in the oven. That's how we roll(or prevent rolls), and it makes for the perfect crust, IMO
