What is your favorite Stephen King movie?

I like all of Stephen King's movies but my favorite so far is THE SHINING. Being isolated all winter long will play with ones mind.

Before somebody else calls you loudly on this, I will. Dude, use the search function. You will find that there are sometimes existing threads on a topic that are not on the first page or the 12th for that matter. Searching will find the thread.

Of the ones I have seen, I would have to say 'Pet Cemetary' I saw it when I was a kid. The only part that really scared me was the flashback scene when the Wife was taking care of her dying aunt/sister or whatever.

Not a huge fan to be honest but I love Creepshow...

I also really liked Battleground from the Nightmares and Dreamscapes TV show..

Devastating 03-20-2010 01:28 AM

I like most of his films but I guess my Favorites are...

It

Dreamcatcher
Creepshow
Silver Bullet
Pet Sematery
Misery

Yeah I know I should probably pick one ,but there's so many good ones its hard to choose.

asoundmind 03-20-2010 01:35 PM

It is my favorite. It can't touch the book by any means, but the pure creepiness of Tim Curry as Pennywise is awesome.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 03-20-2010 03:32 PM

they are all pretty terrible, especially maximum overdrive.

phantomstranger 03-21-2010 07:42 AM

Salem's Lot (1979)

Ferox13 03-21-2010 07:50 AM

Any one seen any of the Stephen King Dollar Babies?

Though cheap as hell i kinda liked Rainy Season.

Deimos 03-21-2010 02:08 PM

By far I would have to say the classic IT.

LizLaceration 03-21-2010 02:42 PM

I would have to say Misery because Kathy Bates is so incredibly frightening and comforting in it.

Pretty creepy.

neverending 03-21-2010 03:39 PM

Carrie
The Shining
The Dead Zone
Stand By Me
Pet Sematary
Misery

Dear sir,I agree with you and I have read many of his books including the Shining and I know the glaring differences from the book to the film. But I am only speaking of the movie and I was thoroughly entertained by it.Yes I am aware to the question to this thread but the Shining remains on my list.Dont hold a grudge against me kind sir,I am just stating my opinion.

No, but the entire story simply feels different in the black and white style. The story really comes to life and the CG blends far better. I missed the theatrical on this one and when I heard that Darabont not only intended for the film to be b/w, but offered a b/w version on the DVD I bought it immediately and watched the b/w version before seeing the color version.

It is fantastic.

Elvis_Christ 04-02-2010 01:29 AM

The version over here was just the colour one. I can definitely see it working really well in B&W, might have to import the set with both versions.

Drwatson186 04-02-2010 04:22 PM

Stephen King's IT was my favorite movie, I loved the book "Carrie"

Anthropophagus 04-04-2010 07:00 AM

GRAND INQUISITOR 04-04-2010 09:40 AM

Would his pen name of Richard Bachman count?
If so it has to be The Running Man. Otherwise It or The Shining

scarymoviefreak!!! 04-04-2010 09:03 PM

Althogh Not a movie but a fantastic short series. seriously give Steven King's Kingdom Hospital a go. If you like ghosts, hospitals and Ardvarks!!! give this a go!

robwar 04-07-2010 06:39 PM

my favorites are!!

1. The shining
2. IT
3. storm of the century
4. carrie
5. sometimes they come back

orangestar 04-07-2010 09:44 PM

Number 1 is definitely Pet Sematary. The Shining and Carrie are great too, of course. I can never get myself to sit through It. No movie needs to be 192 minutes.

neverending 04-07-2010 11:58 PM

Yes, some do.

AMICUS HORROR 04-08-2010 09:19 AM

Creepshow and the Dead Zone are my two favorites.
