Ripley's getting a new little sister... What should we call her??

http://inlinethumb48.webshots.com/41...500x500Q85.jpg

She was born December 19th (ignore the broken camera – let’s just say that my breeder is electronics-special) and we’re going to pick her up sometime at the end of February. :D

Still haven’t figured out a clever name for her, though… Ripley is the only cool female character from the Alien movies.

Any suggestions?

Running name list so far:
  • Newt (from Aliens)
  • Leeloo-Dallas Multi-Pass (from Fifth Element)
  • Boomer (from Battlestar Galactica)
  • 6 (from Battlestar Galactica)
  • Fluffy
  • She Ra
  • E.T.
  • Vasquez (from Aliens)
  • Naked
  • Sinead (O'Connor)

I've also considered:
  • Gogo (from Kill Bill Part 1)
  • Mitsuko (from Battle Royale)

What do you think?

hammerfan 01-14-2009 01:56 PM

Even before I read your options, when I read the title of the thread, I was going to say Newt. Chrono, if you need any advice with introducing Ripley to her new little sister, just give me a shout. It can be tricky sometimes.

ferretchucker 01-14-2009 02:36 PM

Didn't someone suggest chemo?

ABnormaL 01-14-2009 02:41 PM

Omg, that is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen. I must have one. Where can I get one? Lol :D

Yeah, Newt came up a lot... That was actually where my mind went first... I'm leaning in that direction... You know, to be consistent with the theme. :D

And, YES, I will DEFINITELY be PM'ing you and asking for advice (hope you don't mind some extra-curricular cat talk!!) - I'm stressing about the concept of Ripley freaking out.

YES

It was a personal favorite of mine... I just think someone at the Vet will be offended. lol

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. LOL :o

Regardless, I'm getting her (and got my first one) from a breeder in Long Island. Their website is here:

Aw, I was being serious. I thought she was gorgeous lol.

monalisa 01-14-2009 06:38 PM

I think Newt would be perfect. How can you not love that connection? :)

_____V_____ 01-14-2009 07:27 PM

Tipsy.

Sorta goes with Ripley, and thats how she looks in the pic.

(psst NE & Crabby, she is developing an army of demon cats to take over the world...so much for that Planet of the Apes scenario...)

Phalanx 01-14-2009 07:30 PM

Call it bonzo.
Or Valeria.

Marroe 01-14-2009 08:02 PM

She's so cute and yet looking at her makes me laugh (no offense, I love it.:) ). I don't really have any suggestion except go with something feminine...she is a lady.

hammerfan 01-15-2009 04:06 AM

Chrono, PM me any time. Or, I'll PM you my email address.

The best way to introduce them is slowly. Wait, I'll go over this either in PM or email.

The_Return 01-15-2009 04:19 AM

That THING already has a name: Satan Incarnate.

Despare 01-15-2009 04:42 AM

Sorry, but I would call her "Ugly".

urgeok2 01-15-2009 05:37 AM

i think that one looks cute - like a baby tiger

That was really my first thought... Ripley is just such a STRONG BADASS CHARACTER.

Though, at this point, it's come down to either Newt or Leeloo-Dallas-Multi-Pass.

LOL

EXACTLY - I'm training them to be my unholy armies of the NIGHT!

KILL my pretties, KILL.

Actually, the first reaction I got from work was "sea monkey."

bloody_ribcut 01-15-2009 06:09 AM

newt would be the obvious name.:D

ferretchucker 01-15-2009 08:04 AM

Fetus would be pretty good.

I also thought we could take names from Star Wars.

-Yoda
or
-Tina (short for Palpatina, after the emperor)

-Newb, coz they have roughly the same amount of wrinkles.

-Krueger

-You could spell Chemo Kimoh, and say it's an Australian aborigine name.

-Miss. Bigglesworth?

-Or as Halloween is listed as one of your favourite horror films, maybe Laurie or Strode.

Dante'sInferno 01-15-2009 08:22 AM

Name her, I was left in the Dryer for to long.

Oh...erm....yeah....I agree with mona_lisa, NEWT!

Angra 01-15-2009 08:48 AM

Baldie.

Now that's a winner name.

LMAO

I heart you.

...

On a COMPLETELY SHITTY NOTE...

I just heard back from the breeder.

And she made a mistake.

The cat was already reserved. :( :( :(

There are other cats in the litter, but considering that we're about to spend $700 on it, I want the one that I want... And I want one with a tux coat (as retarded as that sounds).

I'm going to go cry now.

I hate people.

:(

hammerfan 01-15-2009 10:39 AM

Chrono, that completely sucks!!!!! I'm so sorry! :(

ferretchucker 01-15-2009 12:28 PM

Stupid breeder lady, but DO NOT give up hope. If it wasn't meant to be, it wasn't meant to be. Hold out and you will find the one you want.

And you can call it yoda. Or Tina (Palpatina). Or Kimoh. Or Laurie. Or Strode. Or Newb. Or Krueger. Or Miss. Bigglesworth.

ChronoGrl 01-15-2009 02:21 PM

Thanks, guys. Sorry to complain. I am SO not usually the whinge-on-the-forum type.

Ok.

Wow.

So three emails later she tells me that she actually had a tabby tux born last week. I told her to keep the deposit for this one:

(LOOK - Even MORE larval than before!!!)

I'm still excited about the kitten... But it's oh, so so bittersweet.

Azazel005 01-16-2009 05:26 AM

Will I am glad to see that you will be getting a kitten afterall, though surely you can't name it newt? I mean that's like naming it "Barely formed character only developed as a plot device"

Is the new kitty a girl also? My first thought were on an Alien them "Xenny" then you could have the Hero and the Villian. Thought the first thing I thought when reading that it was a Tux kitten was "Blondie" then you have that sort of inoric amusement of giving it a girly name but actually choosing it based an a suit wearing homicidal maniac from a Tarantino film!

At any rate good luck.

SEE?!

No one ELSE seems to understand why I refuse to call it Newt. She was more of a vehicle for the maternal Ripley than an actual character.

Ever since someone from work mentioned it, Mark is OBSESSED with calling her Leeloo-Dallas-Multi-Pass. He was saying it over and over again this morning (Oh - Did I mention that I live with a 10-year-old? lol).

urgeok2 01-16-2009 06:14 AM

i never used to name my pets ...

i've had cats with no name .. rats, etc.

when i was forced to pick a name for my last cat - i said fine : wayne.

i was never into naming them something that defined my interests - but thats just me ...

You should name the rats #1, #2, #3...

Or if you REALLY wanted to be creepy, you could call them #2 Son, #3 Son, ect. lol

...

I like naming pets. I really geekout over it. Plus I feel as though they're really a part of the family with distinct names and personalities... And all that really cheesy stuff. :o

I don't know that I would really want to name a kitty after what is essentially Besson's adolescent fantasy... no offense to the other half.

Don't get me wrong I love Milla (and she will remain first on my 5 list, and found Leeloo charming enough but well she was an adolsecent fantasy and extremely hot and did Kung-Fu... my penis wouldn't forgive me if I didn't like her.

missmacabre 01-16-2009 07:10 AM

Leeloo is a perfect name. Your Batlle Royale/Kill Bill names are good too.

my kid is into naming them - but typically they go with very obvious names ..

the white one is 'whitey' the black one is ....well, you can guess.

the black and white one he calls 'curious'

my wife calls the black and white one 'mr horny'

i joked about calling them sammi, deano, and frank.... but i never would have called them that for real :)

ferretchucker 01-16-2009 07:13 AM

I was praying you didn't call it Newt...

If only you got a guy! You could call it Hicks. And as long as you didn't get them fixed, they could have little mutant babies!

Have you decided on a name. I still say Tina.

DraculaInDallas 01-16-2009 03:21 PM

How about ....Pussy Galore......:o :D

I second that! We introduced Cleo to Tigger and Tigger ran off, hissing. Cleo, a kitten, tried to play with Tigger but Tigger wouldn't have any of it. They still don't get on.

Here's a recent shot of Ripley's new little sister:

http://inlinethumb11.webshots.com/43...500x500Q85.jpg

Lookit her! She's ADORABLE!!!

We're going to go with Leeloo. We're picking her up on March 21st (coincidentally, our 2-year anniversary!). I'm pretty psyched about it.
