Horror bad for health???

People I know like my mom and other old people think horror is bad for my health?. I got into an argument with her and even though I'm 18 she still thinks it's bad for me to like horror as much as I do. She thinks I'll murder somone. I guess I'll never understand:( so do people treat you the same.

Vodstok 02-26-2004 09:59 AM

I'm 27 and started with horror at 5 when i saw Alien. I have grown up well-adjusted and ended up a writer and web designer. i dont think it is quite as harmful as they are making it out to be. I also happen to come from a good family, so i guess that goes to show you that if the parents are good, the kid will turn out okay no matter how weird he is :)

BudMan 02-26-2004 10:05 AM

I'm probably your mothers age [ yes old ] and have been into horror since I was about 10. I haven't killed anybody yet. :)
As a matter of fact I'll pick up a spider and put it outside instead of stepping on it. hmmmmm maybe horror does warp ya a little bit.

kpropain 02-26-2004 12:05 PM

I'm 28 and I've been watching horror since I was about 4 or 5.
I'm a responsible adult that pays my own bills.
Horror movies haven't warped me.
Except for those six bodies in the basement http://users.telenet.be/eforum/emoti...evil/teu49.gif

HappyCamper 02-26-2004 02:12 PM

I'm 26 and have been watching horror since the age of 8. And i'm pretty sane...

hehehehehehehe

oh hi

Rotting Eye 02-26-2004 03:24 PM

Horror isn't bad for health. What's bad for health is parents not disciplining their damn kids properly. Any sane person knows what goes on in horror movies shouldn't be done in real life (ex. TCM, silence of the lambs, killing people, whatever). When kids start actin up, parents need to lay down the law.

Blame the parents, not anything else.

if you love your kids, you wil beat the shit out of them when appropriate

I am 29 and have been watching horror since I was a kid and have never heard anyone I know, family or friends say horror is bad for you! It's all make believe anyway. I think my parents knew I was always well adjusted as I grew up watching The Waltons too!!!!!!!!!

sleepaway 02-26-2004 11:54 PM

They say Serial Killers are generally not horror movie fans. The more famous killers have been obsessors of such things as Disney Movies and Return Of The Jedi which I think was Gacey and Dhamer.

HorrorGoof 02-27-2004 03:21 AM

I think that, to get kill someone from seein a movie, you've got to bet sick in the from the start.
Like they say i Scream1:
"Movie's don't create monsters! It only makes them more creative!"

Lady V 02-27-2004 04:45 AM

I´m watching Horror Movies since I´m 4 or 5, I never thought about killing somenbody the way like one of the Horror Guys do, for me Horror is just a nice Thing to watch and have Fun, but I know what you mean, my Mum also don´t understand why I love to watch those Movies.

Killer Clown#1 02-27-2004 05:51 AM

It just pisses me off that people would think I would really hurt somone just because of the movies. I love blood and guts but not real blood and guts just fake stuff. I think i'm pretty normal I just show a deep intrest in horror movies and I'm not a violent guy what so ever.

Sounds like my dad. I live in a family of archConservatives, and I am completely Liberal (to use contemporary terms). Everything, to them, that I do is rooted in some sort of Southern Baptist evil.

I don't give a damn, though.

Angelakillsluts 02-27-2004 08:57 AM

Charles Manson was set off by the song "Helter Skelter" by the Beatles. What the fuck? I've heard that song and I just can't see it.

I remember watching horror movies with my dad and he'd always laugh at scary parts, I'd always get mad and tell him to shut up. He definately doesn't think the same way as the people you know.

I see what you mean, while my mom is not a archConservative she thinks i'll be like ted bundy. she even wen't as far as saying that he was into the stuff I like. I would like to asure her that I won't but she just thinks liking horror a lot will make any body a killer, and she judges people by the way they dress or look all the time and will not change her opinion:rolleyes: but like you said I don't give a damn!
