What scared you as a kid?
And I don't mean movies! What else scared you?
I used to be scared of the shadows in my room as a kid, I had a huge model T-Rex and when the lights were off it cast the biggest, freakiest shadows! I also recall thinking there was something under the bed so I could not fall asleep if my feet or hands were over the edge, I pretty much wrapped myself up in the duvet like a cocoon! And for some reason I could not look outside through a window if it was dark outside as I always thought some monster was gonna jump up at the window! Damn that imagination! |
Antique Dolls and I'm still scared of them
|
The dark. Hell, it still scares me, although not as much.
And the fear of death.. But that's subsided as well. Hmm.. spiders, I still hate them too. What else... And Chucky, cuz I'd see other dolls all over the place and they'd scare the shit out of me. And there was a time when I didn't like going out back, walking upstairs, being near a bed, or sleeping near a wall HAH. That was all because I watched "The Gate" when I was like 5 and got the shit scared out of me. I think that's about it. |
Mine is kinda weird, I think. When I was a kid I used to be scared of BEARS!!!!. I use to live out in the boondocks in the middle of nowhere with my grandparents and they would always talk about bears and crap. The funny thing now though, when I think about it, there are no bears in the area I lived. My family is soooo cruel.

I was about 10 when the movie Adam came out. about Adam Walsh, John Walsh's son the guy who started Americas most wanted. His son was kidnapped and murdered. After I saw that I was pretty spooked about being alone anywhere in stores and places like that for quite a while.
Also spiders always scared the hell out of me. |
wicked witchof the west

The Dark still scares me! I've always been afraid of someone grabbing my foot when I step out of bed. Sixth Sense style. Thats been my biggest fear since I was a kid.

My grandfather had this wicked ugly little head that laughed, and he used to chase me with it. Oh, gawd I hated that thing. People used to threaten me with it. I hated my grandparents house because of that little fucker.

Do you remember those hardback "Scary stories to tell in the dark" and "More scary stories" ect, ect. They had the creepiest drawings and they terrified me as a kid...'course I loved em'...I was scared of smokey the bear too >.>;

When I was a child, the thing that frightened me the most was when I was lying in bed at night, waiting for sleep to enclose me like arms of loving escape.
What frightened me most about this was the fact that I worried constantly about the legs of my bed sinking into the deepest abyss of Hell. I'm not sure if this was brought on by great Sunday school teachers of my childhood, but I do remember constantly having to get out of bed to check and see if the legs of my bed were sinking into the floor or not. Oi, on to the next one... |

I was also scared of clowns when I was little. My mom didn't watch me a whole lot so I saw movies like It and Gremlins and Critters...not the best for my little child pshyci...'Couse then she showed me Rocky Horror...on purpose. Made me question if I'd actually gotten away with all those past movies I snuck. |

I was afraid of the dark.
I still sleep with a nightlight, but it actually all started with a stephen king movie. One day, I was probably about 5, I came in from my little league baseball game and turned on the tv. There was this movie on, I didn't really know what it was, but there was a family trapped in a room by a bunch of rats. It scared the bejeezus out of me and I was convinced they would get me as well. I later found out the movie was The Night Shift...I think? Anyway, from that day on I had nightlight, and I slept with the blankets over my head. |
Ah yes. The childhood, blanket over head theory. If you can't see it, it can't see you.

MY MOTHER:eek:
|
Once I read a story somewhere about a married couple that woke up to a horrible smell one day and there was a rotting corpse at the foot of their bed. That has terrified me forever. I cant even imagine what I would do if that happened to me. I would literaly be scared to death.
|
Thats the thing with a lot of deep rooted childhood fears. Even today if it happened it could, quite possibly, scare the shit out of us.
|
Haha yeah they can be nasty.
I keep crickets in my room, for my Chameleon. Occasionally you will find one hopping around. The worst though, is when one gets loose and gets in behind something you can't get to and chirps. |
Spiders and other Insects scared the Hell out of me and still do
|
God was a very bad man for creating spiders. God was so drunk that day. Bad God.
