Is December fifth when you're upgrading to Photobucket pro?
|
The trailers look great......I just hope the R rating won't water it down.

this should rock - but i have a vague feeling it will suck
|

maybe, just maybe ... it'll suck rock |
The last Punisher movie, while based on one of my favorite Punisher storylines, was a pretty massive disappointment. This one looks a lot cooler though.
But Watchmen will own it. And some day... If & when it ever happens, Preacher will own them all... Even Sin City (which is currently the best comic to film adaptation, in my opinion.) |
my comic movie predictions:
Punisher 2 - will suck (but not suck rock, though it might rock suck - which is a whole yoga thing i don't want to get in to). Watchmen will disappoint everyone - fans will feel it lacks a lot, non-fans will be confused and think it lacks a lot Preacher - will be an HBO series and will be amazing - though toned down Spiderman 4 will be much better than most people expect Batman 3 will be made but without Bale or Nolan and people will begin to say the series has outlived its usefulness Iron Man II will be awesome Captain America will be a big disappointment Thor and the Avengers movie will never be made |

Avengers will be made dude. They are already in pre-production and scheduled for 2011 release with Downey & Cheadle already signed on. Preacher as an HBO series would be an excellent way for them to get all the sotryline in there, but why would they have to tone it down? Shows like Oz & Sopranos were pretty hard R if they had been films. I would think Preacher would be as well. They could just do 1 issue= 1 episode and keep everything in there. I'm already smirking just thinking about how up-in-arms the Christian right will be when they catch wind of that plotline. Muhahahaha! I've heard nothing but great things about Watchmen thus far so I sincerely hope you're wrong on that prediction. I'm looking very forward to it. I've heard it's gonna be pretty hardcore. |
pre-production means nothing - the first of these films that underperforms at the box office then it gets pulled. as well, the financial crisis is hitting hollywood as well - a huge budget flick (like avengers would HAVE to be) could get pulled at a moment's notice if there was even a vague sense it might not be massive

Back on topic, I'm not so sure about the new Punisher movie. I mean it looks like its going to be good, but thats just the trailers and commercials for it. Mythbusters proved that you could polish a turd. Edit: It totally slipped my mind about the HBO series, I heard that a while ago. |
Watchmen should've been the HBO series...but I think the film looks decent - of course it will suffer like the the other adaptations of the sort (league of extraordinary gentlemen, hellboy) of "the comic was better" syndrome.
Batman 3, I can see being Nolan, but I don't think we'll see it in a while, he's apparently going to be working on other films, finally. Punisher 2...well, here's another film being made that'd do better as a series, or at least a miniseries. The stunt coreography and effects will e better this time around, the villain perhaps a little more along the lines of what SHOULD be, but I'd be extremely surprised if it overcomes the "punisher movie curse" Ironman 2, same as the first - hopefully with a better, less obscure villain. Thor...if it were a cartoon, cool, if not...gonna seem like a beowulf rip. Preacher...is a miniseries...lots of stuff pushed into small timeframe...not the best thing that could happen, but it should be good all the same. Spiderman 4, will just be better than spiderman 3...I'd say. Captain America, I think they could actually do pretty well. They NEED a "pre-freeze and rebirth" storyline, and they need redskull to not be ridiculous. If they made it along the lines of the 90's "heroes reborn" captain america, that could actually be very good. Incredible hulk showed the potential of such a character. Avengers...I can see happening, but I'm stuck on who should be the villain...I'm going with KANG the conquerer and the sorceress - a big threat to bring them all together, hell, I just want it to be better'n the FF films. |
i think - and hollywood can use this if i can have .01% of the gross - that the best villain would be ultron. set it up in Iron Man II as some massive computer program to help Tony do his thing (maybe even help track down Hulk, who will obviously be the hook to bring the heroes together). then in avengers ultron goes beserk and the heroes (and hulk) band together to stop the near unstoppable robot and his legions.
given that i also think Thor will be stupid - i hope they don't try to introduce Loki and use him as villain - (unless somehow tied to Ultron, which could actually be cool - Loki tampers with cybernetics and brings it to sentient, malevolent life - damn my ideas are so cool I don't know why Hollywood doesn't come begging for my wisdom!!!) |

Hehe Reminds me of something about a million monkeys at typewriters |
Nup.
Kang. Warmonger/conquerer from the future, with tech that would've been researched in regards to the "heroes" weaknesses...would force them to fight more'n a big intelligent adaptoid robot. Seeing the "rise" of these heroes and perceiving them as a potential threat in the future, tries to attack them and belts 'em around when they're on their own - this here would be a good idea to make them "assemble". Also the sorceress chick would be hot. Not that ultrons a bad idea...hell, could even make for a pretty good side villain, or at least get corrupted to help the baddie... But honestly, Kang IMO has always been the definitive avengers villain. When you think about it though, it'll probably be neither of them:rolleyes: |
i think time travel movies are almost always awful - so as much as i like kang, i'm hoping its not him
it'll probably be ashton kutcher or adam sandler as a brand new villain - Ultra-Annoying Man with the power to suck the quality out of everything |
Yeah, but he was a time traveller...but, in the comic he just kinda "turned up".
Ultron I see problems with as he's really a more progressive character than that - I wouldn't mind seeing him developed though. |
Jane sucked as Punisher, this flick looks much better, we'll see if it's better than Dolph's though...

So you were purplepee |
On the Avengers villain topic...I'm betting it'll be some kind of team-up of the major villains from each franchise. Look at it...neither Iron Man or Incredible Hulk used the character's definitive villain (Mandarin and Leader), but gave them some degree of an introduction (Order of the Ten Rings, Sterns' accident).
Supposedly, Branagh doesn't want to use Loki in his Thor movie either - I freely admit that this comes from an IMDB thread, not a reputable source - so it looks like they're trying to bring 'em all in at once. That'd mean someone like Baron Zemo instead of Red Skull for the Cap movie, which could be cool. |
Once they get all these characters established with one or two films apiece, I'll be looking forward to a Secret Wars film. Easily one of the best Marvel storylines ever. (Not Secret Wars 2 though, that sucked.)
|
I think I heard Mandarin will be in Iron Man 2, which is set to come out before The Avengers, I believe.
|
Iron Man 2 is definitely scheduled ahead of Avengers. Mandarin would be cool.
|
I just read on wikipedia that Mandarin is scheduled to be in Iron Man 2, although it is wikipedia so...you know.
|
as of 11:26 AM EST, Rotten Tomatoes gave Punisher Warzone a 15%.
The funny thing is, the negative reviews make me want to see it more than the positive. Example: Quote:

The narrative isnt non-existent, just not terribly thick. Again, have you seen the comic? "Frank castle shoots people and blows shit up" |
Lets hear it for Women's Lib!
I didnt realize this until i watched an "Exclusive clip" on google videos and saw Lexi Alexander, but the blood orgy of awesomeness and violence that is Punisher War Zone was directed by a woman! Now, there have been plenty of asskicking movies made by women, but I would have thought the level of rage channeled through this would have been from a guy who ate anabolic steroids like skittles, but apparently good ol' fashioned estrogen did the trick ;) Lexi Alexander is the Ellen Ripley of filmmaking :) |
Okay, that could have been better, but what the hell, it's the Punisher, not Citizen Kane.
