My HDC involvement kinda screwed me...
 

I know the title souds horrible, but this is merely inconvenient. It seems my penchant for coming here, posting my stories and then pimping the living shit out of them finally came back to bite me. I submitted Abuse to associated content last week, and as it turns out, having posted the story here counts as it being previously published, and goes against their policy of only publishing exclusive content.

Bummer.

So in the future, my pimping will be links to that site, so that when you decide to go read my stuff, i can actually make some money off of it ;)

I don't understand how posting here can be considered "published"?! I think they are trying to screw you.

the fact that it is posted here means that they dont have the content exclusively, so rather than only going to their site to view it, which gets them advertising dollars, someone could come here to read it.

From their perspective, it would be like someone selling wal-mart brand products at their store for cheaper. People wouldnt need to go to wal mart to get the cheap stuff.

It's screwed me in a different way. I defended people that I thought were my friends only to find out they were a couple of bad people. I don't feel bad for defending friends, I just need to be wiser about who I choose as my friends. I admitted I was wrong, time and time again, and I still am forced to have salt rubbed into those wounds cuz some people here refuse to let go of the situation and realize that I not only admitted I was wrong, but was a victim as well. To those people who won't let it go (and you know who you are) I can only hope that the same thing happens to you so you know how much it hurts. Live and learn.

How did they find out about it being here. In future, if you try to get another piece published, one that you've already "pimped", delete it here, then don't mention it ever was here. They'll be none the wiser...

I imagine they are technically adept enough to use google, which caches a lot of its content. even if i had the mods delete it now, it would be a year before i would feel safe trying it again.


Its no biggie. you never learn if you dont occaisionally get kicked in the nuts

I don't know, I've come a long way in school and I only recall being properly kicked in the nuts twice.

That sucks big time.I'm sure you will write something even better for the next time;)

Best thing you can do is write some work for the public, possibly to publish in independently done chapbooks (there are ways of doing this for a dollar a copy) and stuff for editors. Flash fiction is good to show people who you are and what you're about. But, save some stuff for editors.
